For example, in Tehrani Persian we may say “Sardameh/Garmameh” (I am cold/warm, Sorani Kurdish: Sarmama/Garmama). But in standard, formal, written Persian we write “(man) sardam/garmam ast.” Similarly, in informal Tehrani dialect we may say “Oon chi-ye?” (What is that? Sorani Kurdish: Ama Chyya?). But in formal Persian we write “Aan chi ast?” Do you have similar differences between formal and colloquial Sorani Kurdish? Nice video again; dast khosh.

@kamoaraz458010 ай бұрын
Perhaps "tinuma" is a more accurate, with its noun form being "tinuyati." On the other hand, if we consider "tunima," its noun form would be "tuniyati," which could mean spiciness. I've come across both variations used interchangeably to express both "thirst" and "I'm thirsty in spoken and written contexts: "tinuyati-tunima" and "tunima-tuniyati". Basically, you could use both. 🌻

This evening I was speaking to the lovely Kurdish guys who own the local pizzeria and it was fascinating, as a Persian speaker, to discuss their language with them. Modern English vocabulary is two-thirds Norman-French and Latin, and there’s a similarity in this regard where Sorani Kurdish is considered. The link between Sorani and Persian is FAR less concrete than between English and French, but there are enough Persian loanwords in Sorani to give me some idea of what is happening. Definitely not mutually intelligible at all, but it’s interesting to see which Persian words have survived.

Well, you can think of pahalwi as old kurdish, at high school i had studied a kurdish poet who is sometimes refered to as the oldest kurdish, or sometimes the first kurdish, poet. He wrote his quatarians in pahlawi, and let me tell you, his poems were very difficult to understand, sure a sorani speaker can recognize many words and expressions but you cant get the meaning of the whole poem. So mmmm i dont know what to say, pahlawi is the classic form of kurdish yet now you can regard them as seperate languages of the same branch, just like zazaki and luri they are kurdish but almost dofferent langauge, i think the best analogy is manadrin, cantonese, hakka chinese, shangabese, etc.
