Really good George. I watch a lot of your videos and have learned copious amounts of distilling knowledge from you. But I have to say this one was awesome. Makes me want to buy one just to have your help too. Phil and Susan are pretty lucky. I bet they have days of fun with that thing. Happy distilling!

Congrats Phil and Susan from your neighbor in New Mexico. I bought a 8gal pot still from George a few years ago and love it. I am envious of your new purchase. Cheers

Did you need to use a water chiller or was tap water cool enough to run your Genio?
@quarlow12155 жыл бұрын
Oh, It's even worse than I thought. I see a 50 on E-bay for $15,000. I'm thinking that makes the 100 about $17,000 to $18,000. Ouch. It would be great to be able to afford it and I guess if you were starting a micro-distillery it would be affordable and well worth it. Hmmmm. I got an idea. lol

George, does this still have a sensor on it that reads the alcohol proof? If so, can you just get that part so it can be adapted for the blind guy, Dave I think???
@BarleyandHopsBrewing5 жыл бұрын
It does and is integrated into the system. Sorry it is not available separately. George
@SyBernot5 жыл бұрын
@@BarleyandHopsBrewing Does it actually read the ABV or does it rely on the temp of the vapor/condensate? I've looked high and low for reading ABV directly via electronics and short of an infrared spectrograph I haven't found one.
@BarleyandHopsBrewing5 жыл бұрын
@@SyBernot It does. Let's collaborate on this. It uses several data points and during the 15 minute stabilizing process it determines the azeotrope temp and from all those the program can determine the ABV in the kettle. Amazing

@@BarleyandHopsBrewing yeah that's some fancy math, trial and error, and calibration, I'm pretty impressed.

@quarlow12155 жыл бұрын
As near as I can figure, because Genio must think they have to keep their prices a secret, This still is going to cost about $10,000. I can make a lot of alcohol in a keg still for that much money. In fact I don't think I could make ten thousand bucks worth of shine before I pass to the great distillery in the sky. LOL Having said that, This thing is cool times 500.

Not sure I like the idea of NOT having to think about it. It would seem to become less of a hobby and more about crankin' out hooch.

Maybe but it is good top quality hooch. No guessing no mistakes.
@southcack82455 жыл бұрын
@@BarleyandHopsBrewing I guess that would depend on what goes into it and what you do with what comes out of it. Do they send out a service tech when it decides to fail (and eventually it likely will).
