As someone who's used the X1Dii for close to 2 years before the X2D was launched, really happy you made this vid. I think the hassy image and colors really are something special, and out of the many youtube photographers (I know, lol) I always thought you'd enjoy trying it out. Some of the images around the 1:50 mark were really interesting, I really liked that last one at Times Square with the electronic billboards. Great stuff man and keep it up. Sincerely, the best youtube photographer (who never uploads youtube videos).

Yoo this video was incredible. Makes me want to take it for a spin, but I don't think I can justify the price tag haha. Loved the photos in this video too - great eye for detail and that color/resolution + your edits are so good. Those mannequin shots are fire...especially at 6:54 and 7:56. 🔥

Such a sick camera - I'd love to get my hands on one. For me it's the 16-bit colour and the much larger sensor that appeal to me most. It doesn't appeal to my wallet though 😅 Great video as always bud!

I love Hasselblad’s design language, all modern cameras should look that sleek.
@badgerfoot

I do like how they look, but I disagree about wanting all cameras being that sleek. I think all camera brands should lean into something design wise that makes them unique from others. That's just me, as someone who thinks most cameras all look the same.

M11 and X2D are too different cameras. I have both too. Usually, if you have money, you have two at the same time for different photo styles. SL3 - yes, it is similar to X2D (but I would choose Panasonic or Sigma with the same matrix and the same optics L). M is bought because of the fast optics and style. X2D has better color. Although all this can be made the same in post-processing.

One thing that is often overlooked with the X2D and other 100MP cameras is the ability to crop fairly severely and still end up with a primtable image. The X2D is slow, but it's not slower than the film cameras that a lot of NYC street photographers use - so why not in that application... From an X2D owner.

Happy X2D owner since launch (sold my X1D II to fund it) and agree with your points! Ultimately I'd like to see Hasselblad make it faster to focus, without asking us to buy a new generation of lenses to compensate. The focal range now feels like it has coverage at all necessary ranges, but took a while. I'm excited to see where they continue to innovate, but I do get the feeling the camera is best used as a lesson to 1) slow down, 2) pay attention, and 3) capture the art of life. (Would also love to see them, now owned by DJI and presumably with its financial backing, do whatever it takes to partner with Capture One. It is frustrating and awkward that Hasselblad is essentially the *only* manufacturer they either cannot or will not support.)

The camera is so beautifully made and feels so good when you hold it😅. But the problem is, that in todays world, where we mostly view photography on a tiny screen, one can’t see if a pic was taken with a smartphone, an APS-C camera, a fullframe camera or a medium format camera … unless it’s a portrait. If I would be into professional fashion-, product- or portrait-photography, I would probably think about buying this camera or the GFX 100 II from Fuji. But as a mere hobbyist who shoots street and travel, I need something small, light and unobtrusive. So, given all this, the X2D still is a wonderful camera, but for my use case it’s total overkill. Anyway, thanks for the nice video😉👍!

Crazy how because, even though it's on a big monitor, I'm watching this in a KZbin videos, unless you're showing the close crops, the images still look the same as your APSC Fujifilm stuff. And that's probably more of a compliment of your style rather than a criticism of the camera.
@henlolneh

interesting you bring this up because it is how i also felt viewing the shots from the x2d in this video. with that being said, when i watch other youtubers who have specifically reviewed the fuji gfx line, the shots they present from the medium format fuji bodies seem to scream "medium format!!" whilst these x2d shots are a lot more difficult to tell what type of sensor said shots were taken on.
@rf8221
@rf8221 5 ай бұрын
@@henlolneh That's because he was shooting a higher ISO to reduce motion blur, and the edits/presets he applies. You can see less of a heavy handed edit towards the start of the video and as he starts to loose light and "crank" the ISO he looses dynamic range. If anything you can see the benefit of a bigger sensor and high megapixel because the digital grain looks pleasant and unobtrusive.

I believe that detail is important. In street photography even when it is a dirty wall your admirers are all going to be looking at different things within your image. Seeing it with absolutely clarity is important. Unless you are going for more of a bokeh effect. Or blurred image for effect. Intensity of color, or black and white, all important to show each image at its best.

Great video! I recently purchased the X2D with the 38V. As a Leica user, I am impressed with the build, image quality, etc. However, the weight and battery life take some getting used to. I experienced the same heat issue when shooting on a hot day. With all of that said, I love the camera. It takes incredible images with explosive colors, and the ability to punch in with little degrading is helpful. So, as a hobbyist, I am happy with the camera. Now, I just need to get out and shoot more, but I have to work to pay for this expensive kit. LOL.

It been sitting in my B&H wishlist basket for over a year now, hesitant to pull the trigger. Still can't logically justify the price tag but my heart desire it, as i print regularly my travel captured images. I never though printed larger than 1m long by 61 cm wide, which even my fuji xt3 can deliver a high quality print of this size. Still not decided to either go for this one or pull the trigger on Leica M model, hopefully they come up with an M iteration with IBIS. But hey love the images you have pulled here and as always love your street photography work and noticed that i have been watching many of your posts without subscribing. Just did now :)

Beautiful images and video, heartfelt thanks! Here, in germany, the hasselblad X2D is lower in price than the Leica M11. I was analog photographer and in search of a digital camera that „runs like a analog“. First have a touch on the M11, but give it back and buyed the X2D with XCD 2.5 55v. Absolute stunning, I use it for every occasion. The handling, quality and image quality are phenomenal. I use phocus on mac to import and convert to .fff files. I’m 100% satisfied and love this camera! Best camera i think. I do architecture, landscape, little street in all naturam light situations, perfect. Also convert to black and white is phantastic too.

How is the auto focus on this camera, the speed for getting accurate shots on the street? As far as use for me in street photography, no way and that’s specifically because of the price! I can see this camera used for nature, photography, or like you say studio work. I use Fuji XT5, and with 40 megapixels have more than enough to crop easily! have to admit I’ve always looked at Hasselblad, but it’s always been way too expensive for my budget. Plus Leica cameras are already a magnet for criminals, I can imagine they would be even more interested in the Hasselblad!

What did you think about the lens for street photography? The XCD 2.5/55V lens you used is a 43mm equivalent and weighs 372g. I would be interested in your opinion on whether you felt like the 55V was too tight for street photography. The XCD 4/45P is smaller and lighter with a 35mm equivalent field of view, and the XCD 2.5/38V is even wider at 30mm equivalent.

It seems to me, that this camera shows more details and contrast. Specially in the clothing(fabrics). That results in more texture visible and different shimmering. And the coloring is on its own. That can make you look different and at extra layers to your street photography. Example the b&w picture with the lady with the long knit.

I used Hasselblad 'V' series cameras for many years but only used it on the street a couple of times. I also owned a Fuji GFX50r which I probably used on the street 10-12 times. Personally, I found the GFX50r too cumbersome for street shooting and I really don't see any point in buying a 100MP camera to use for street / documentary shooting as 20-40MP is more than enough to have for posting on the web or printing.

I don't understand why they sent this camera to someone that is primarily a street photographer. The ideal user for this camera would be for in studio work and / or landscape photography. The price tag is also not in the realm of "most" peoples budget. I think they make a fine product but it is a luxury item that is for a specific end user. I think most street photographers are not going to want to carry around a large camera, risk being robbed and do not likely need such large files. I still like your channel and find your videos informative. I think the manufacturer missed the mark / target audience of your subscribers.

I dont really think that person started a conversation because of its size. Its really because of what it is, it says Hasselblad with big letters on it, thats why he approached you, you dont see a camera like that every day especially out in the streets. By the way as this is a very uncommon camera, think that this camera is as big as a Z8, infact the Z8 is slightly taller due to the EVF.

If you don't need fast optics (0.95, 1.4) and 2.5 (2.0 for 35mm) is enough, if you don't shoot people in motion - then the X2D is a great camera. But any manual Leica camera will be much faster (if you know how to shoot with a rangefinder camera), and fast optics will give you photos that the X2D can't give. For a static picture, the X2D will be better in color (the resolution is about the same), but the new Chinese V-optics for the X2D are the disappointment of the year. Fast and lightweight, but optically much worse than the previous one. I doubt the prospects of the Chinese Hasselblad.
