For those “pocketables”, are the GRiii/x the only ones with an APS-c sensor?

Look, since i am not a professional photographer (i actually don't make any money from my camera, just spending...) i never asked myself about my photographic style. In my first steps i did that as a hobby (or better, a pastime). I used to take my big old DSLR with its big old lenses, my big old tripod and went out for the weekend shooting golden and blue hour landscapes. The pandemic years (and other personal matters like marriage and parenthood in the meantime) had a transformative impact on my "style" though. I started to get interested for the mundane things and the common daily activities of people. I sold my old big camera stuff and made the transition to Sony mirrorless system (an a7C and an a6000) with basically two prime lenses a 50mm on the full frame and a 23mm (aka 35mm equivalent) on my APS-C. Image quality doesn't matter for me, both are great cameras, and the only reason i picked a full frame body is for some night time shooting (generally my main camera is the a6000 because its smaller). I love to shoot and edit a "documentary" way or "vernacular". Even my landscape captures nowadays have a documentarian character rather than a visual oriented composition. And i am happy! The last touch of happiness is the printing. Every month, i am picking one of my favorite photos and send it for print i A3 size on fine art paper, so i have a selection of 12 good quality prints every year.

hey man, I just want to say that I find your approach more interesting than most, mainly for a medium like photography. The type of narcissistic 'put more of yourself in your art' -art bores me to death. Art is not centred in an abstract personal identity, nor is it about personality-boasting. Although social media almost forces you to, you don't have to be an influencer to be artistic, rather the other way around. The way you let yourself be led by what's outside you is not a weakness, it is a strength, it allows you to grow the art of noticing, soft manipulation, mutating your surroundings. Stay in the middle man, that's where the interesting stuff is. (Inter-esse etymologically means being-in-between!)

I'm 41 and have been working as a photographer for the last 15 years. Had a tough professional setback, and thus currently in a "sh*t I'm still average and uninspired" phase. I'm in Tokyo right now, supposedly to travel for fun and to get away from it all for a while, but I'm too focused on getting my shots in, and as a result I've not been enjoying myself the last couple of days. KZbin suggested this video at the exact right time. Tomorrow I'm going to chill and just do what I like. Thanks man.

This goes against most people's aims for photography, as razor sharp images and controlling your depth of field are all many talk about. But the 'better' some of the images are, the more digital and sterile they can be, which commercial work usually demands. This guy know the rules of 'correct' technique and prefers to break them to create images in his own style. He has some interesting stuff. A lot of his images has you imagining a story behind the characters in almost grungy artistic style. Isn't that what this kind of photography is about?

You're an accomplished KZbinr and really good photographer--all before age 30. And yet you still care what others think? Your next phase of development MUST be to learn how to tune out the haters, jealous neer' do wells, etc. I live in outside Boston---let's shoot together some time. I practically live in Chinatown; that's where so much of my shooting is done.

i think social media def took a hard hit on being a photographer and just enjoying what you do, i got off social media and its been very freeing to just shoot and share with my other photography friends without the likes or comments. ive been told i dont have a style either but i think thats what makes things more special. your videos always inspire me and theres always something to take away from them. thank you for that.

Amazing video and well said, experimenting/ breaking the sameness is key for creatives to practice. My friend and I went to NYC on Halloween night and I used flash to photograph my subjects and it turned out better than I expected.

Mine sometimes refuses to take a picture too - I figured it was due to the camera going to sleep after a while to save power - so I tend to tap the shutter button whenever I anticipate some action so that it wakes up. Haven't had issues other than me pushing in the viewfinder glass by gripping it too hard 😅I figure that any working examples that survived up until now are blessedly free of any electronic gremlins out of the factory. (paradoxically, I've had more electronic issues with my M6TTL - but yeah, the shutter still fired) Never did find the RF to be much lighter than the other M's though.

BEAUTIFUL video!! Is the footage from the start from the x100f? Im considering it but I want a *pretty damn good* video quality before I pull the trigger on the x100v, if the x100f is passable for youtube, I'd rather save my bills. If anyone knows...

Street photography with no people is landscape photography. I know many people claim it's not the case but there is a reason why this kind of photography almost always includes people. Street photography with no people can't record everyday life. The only reason someone would shoot a steet photography with no people is to be unconventional for the shake of it.

Been to Marrakech several times. I agree 100% about heading to the quieter parts of the Medina. Also, I think recognizing and adapting to the limitations of photography in different cultures/locations is important, even if it means deviating from your natural approach. The 40MP of the X-T5 gives a lot of latitude for cropping to fix dodgy compositions caused by shooting from the hip. I wouldn't write off the new town as a photography destination. Different vibe but just as interesting, and maybe less "Marrakech-like" in terms of ease of street photography? How did you find Fes for photography compared to Marrakech? Contemplating a trip there, and to Chefchaouan, Tangier and maybe Casa, in the next few months.

I wouldn’t compare this to the contax g series. The contax g2 is not an optical rangefinder and uses autofocus. The experience between the two cameras are not the same.

Hello, thanks for this great video and I do love your music choice!!. It’s funny how the AE function actually was presented as a neat feature to quicken the process of taken a picture.....but it slows you down😅. I haven’t used this camera but I’d compare it to a Voigtlander Bessa R2A which has the ONE feature I regret Leica M caméras lack: a fast(er) shutter speed which is the great advantage of these Leica copies (up to 1/4000’s on your Konika).
