Wish you all the luck on your journey. I will be transitioning from 1/2 marathon trail races to ultras in 2025 so as you get this process figured out, pass on your nutrition and hydration intake along the way and I will do the same.

Good luck, but I wouldn't go out really fast (I would blow up before the finish, but that's me). Have a great race!

Agreed, I’m thinking a little less conservative not anything crazy.

This is it John. Get out there and give it all you've got, I know you will. Is this a race we can monitor your progress online throughout the day through a GPS tracker? That would be cool. Anyways, I wish you the best race possible and can't wait to hear about how it went.

Thanks Don. I don’t think there’s any GPS tracking or updates. I’ll have to check. Thanks for the well wishes 1 foot in front of the other.

I am dead set AGAINST your plan of going out hard. Your night time running will suck much worse, and it’ll be out and out MISERABLE if you attempt to “bank time”. The 2nd commandment of ultra running: there’s no such thing as banking time. Take it at what your normal pace is….your body knows that effort level. Surging harder will throw off your digestion, throw off your water intake, the whole 9 yards. Do what your brain and body knows best…..and if you get to the last 10 miles and have something left in you, then surge st that time. My money is betting you’ll get to the last 10 miles utterly smoked but thanking your lucky stars you didn’t go out like a bat out of hell.

Agreed, in Yeti I was fantastic shape the last 15 because of my banking energy not time. I didn’t mean I was gonna go out like a Bat Out of Hell. I mean, I was just gonna try to be more moving better in the areas where I can… This course doesn’t allow for a lot of that unless you’re trying to run through hills and stuff like that which I won’t be😂

. I wish you the best in conquering this thing. I don’t mean to come off like a schmuck…..I just don’t want to see any extra suffering than the amount of suffering that has been chosen. Happy Thanksgiving!

@quengmingmeow 😂😂😂 oh no worries and i appreciate the concern…I have concerns myself 😂 I am a certified ultra running coach and have run somewhere around 27 of them and still make myself worry about my own decisions.😂😂
