Доброго ранку, Анна! I am enjoying your Ukrainian lessons podcast, I just purchased the premium membership for season one and it’s wonderful! Чудово! I have a question about the phrase “будь ласка” versus “прошу.” My grandparents were from western Ukraine and used “прошу” instead of “будь ласка.” Is this a regional difference, or is “прошу” an outdated phrase? Добрий день! Я рада, що вам подобається мій подкаст 🤗 In the Western Ukraine, they say "прошу" for "you are welcome" a lot - it's not outdated, but regional. Будь ласка is a phrase which is used in all regions :)

Thank you for your suggestions! The truth is, we specifically don't add the English spelling of the words because the English sounds don't correspond with Ukrainian ones. In order to learn proper pronunciation, it is necessary to learn to read Cyrillic, otherwise reading Ukrainian words in Latin characters will result in an accent. We appreciate your kind input.
