I was starting to learn Russian recently because I've always been interested in the language...but with everything going on and so many Ukrainian refugees coming to my country, I decided to completely start over and switch to Ukrainian. There are some similarities so its been a bit confusing (I keep mixing up the Russian G and Ukrainian H) but this video really helped me finally get it down :) thank you for putting the time and effort into making these videos.

I love learning languages and the Ukrainian language was never in my views before till the war. I fully support Ukraine and the future of Ukrainian people to keep the culture alive. I have been learning Ukrainian, I'm best at words so I understand some of the pronunciations because they sound Spanish like. Not very many, but as the news talks I'm able to understand the meanings because of my background in different languages. The pronunciation comes immediately to me because Spanish has many pronunciations that are very similar to so many languages around the world

This a great video. Some letters are really hard for me, e.g. "P" looks like an English "P" but doesn't sound like it, and the same with "B", "H", etc, so it's hard to adjust my thinking, but I want to practice and your video is very helpful.

I find this the best video for Ukrainian alphabet so far. 👍 - Goes right to the point, no lengthy talking around (in another non-Ukrainian language). - Talk is all in Ukrainian, therefore more universal also for non-English speakers (like me). - Demonstrates all pronunciation variants for each letter. - The stressed part of the word is marked. - Cursive lettering included. - Cursive shows the clean “schoolbook” version - I found mostly “decorative” versions online, but as a beginner I prefer to start from the basics. - No disturbing background music. - Love the clean and tasteful graphic design of the presentation. - There is a link for more context if needed. Love that website, too.

Hi, I always have a question like below. I can pronounce "р". But when I try to pronounce Україна or other words with "к" followed by a "р" I failed to pronounce it well, or even I pronounce it with кр connected, it doesn't sound like how you pronounce or every Slavic language speaker does. (though English is not my mother tongue, but I met it since I was a child, I wonder if the way I pronounce English "k"is differ from "к", and I become accustomed to it, so pronounce with way in English "k" is hard to connect well with Ukraine "р" ? Maybe...)

In general, Ukrainians do not use accents; they're common only in textbooks and other resources for learning Ukrainian as a way to learn how to pronounce words 🙂 If you open Ukrainian websites, books, or chats, there are no accents above the words 😉

Please pronounced the letters in English first because some of the letters don't exist in the English language. I'm trying to better my Ukrainian, my first language is Spanish and the alphabet matches the Spanish alphabet because of the Latin alphabet. I also know portuguese and a bit of Italian and French. Because the languages are close to Spanish. But I'm kind of confused on some of the letters because of the Spanish alphabet. Please pronounced them in English my second language thank you, please explain by pictures also . Like you mentioned carrot, yes but u mentioned Venezuela, but no picture of the country. Now that's just and example I'm talking about. I'm not saying show the map of Venezuela. Example Ñ Ń IS two different meanings for us in Spanish the first is part of the alphabet, bur the second is and accent for us. Please help thanks

So many unnecessary letters and close to impossible to find any example in the english or even german language with similar pronounciation. I'll never be able to learn this.

On the contrary, every letter is important in the Ukrainian alphabet, as we do not use diacritics (i.e., German Umlaut). Ukrainian words are pronounced the same way as they are written, unlike French and many other languages. Of course, the Slavic language group is different from others, but it will become much easier as soon as you learn the Cyrillic letters.
