Guys, fighter jets are inherently unstable, that's why they're so maneuverable . Take a sleek, aerodynamic plane and strap a heavy, square box on it, it's not going to fly right. It's like flying with the airbrake deployed.

I don’t fly rc planes a lot, but I do own a few. I own the small yellow one (it is called the champ) and I can say that it is quite capable. Despite the lack of ailerons, there are still multiple maneuvers that it can perform. My personal favorite is bring it to a high altitude, and jamming the left stick to the bottom left/right corner and holding it there with the thrust at full. The aircraft enters a steep dive while spinning on multiple axis’s. Then, I pull up right before it touches the ground. Unfortunately, I have broken the wing twice while doing that.

Word of advice to anyone wanting to purchase an rc airplane, the Horizon Hobby Apprentice STS is an amazing first plane. It is large to it can handle high winds (personally tested at 35mph) and is very forgiving. You can also buy. GPS sensor and set up a boundary where if the plane starts to cross it, it automatically turns around. You can also by a radar for the bottom that automatically flares the airplane when landing. This helps prevent new pilots from landing at too steep and f an angle and smashing the plane into the ground. It also has auto level so if you let go of the controls it returns to level flight by itself. Lastly with a 3200mah 3s Lopo you can get between 15 minutes to 25 minutes of flight time, depending how fast you are going and if there is wind.

HA what you mean is all those F/A-18’s you bought were $1,500 total. This is a VERY fun hobby that just takes practice like anything else to get good at it. The average person COULD actually pick one up and fly it. There is this technology called SAFE and AS3X and other modes to prevent you from crashing and to make it easier for you to fly. You guys are either clickbaiting or just spewing inaccurate information. This is the E Flite F/A-18 Blue Angels. The price of this jet is now $529 (not including tax). It was $469 when I bought it. And like Aerospace Matt said in the comments below, you can get what you need to fly this under $1,000…. It’s not that hard to fly. First of all, don’t ever use a GoPro on an rc jet. Too big and heavy. And if you know ANYTHING about rc planes, it’s that the center of gravity is VERY IMPORTANT. Which I’m sorry but, you apparently didn’t know that or your just crashing it on purpose. Second, ever heard of flaps??? If you were a pilot you’d know what they were, when they were used, and how they work. Third, you would know that there is also this thing called DRAG. It basically prevents an airplane from getting all the proper airflow over the wings and fuselage. And putting the fake ordinance and go pros on it doesn’t help. You need far more RC experience with other airplanes before you even ATTEMPT to fly something like this. I’ve flown mine 5 times now. You also would know this if your an RC pilot that you kind of need time for an RC jet to rotate (lift off the ground) and to build up speed before you decide to throw the elevator up and make it fly. This video is highly disappointing and inaccurate. This is a very awesome jet to fly. But requires a high amount of experience. EVEN ON THE BOX it says “Extra-scale Jet for Experienced Pilots” I’m sorry but I highly doubt your a pilot and barely fly RC. You wouldn’t be spewing inaccurate information out and not knowing how an airplane flies and functions if you were. I don’t intend for this to be a rude comment but I want people to know the FACTS about how this hobby works.

EDF jets are not that hard. I had six inside the first 3 months of flying. The hard part of any rc plane is the maiden. You have to track and learn the airframe's characteristics in under four minutes, while applying trim and using flaps and retracts for the first time in the air. Glide slope and stall characteristics have to be felt out. ALWAYs check the documentation for CG. Also when you buy a model the odds of somebody on KZbin showing you battery placement and what size they used is very high.
@DaveItYourselfChannel2 жыл бұрын
I've got a great tip for checking if a plane is too nose heavy. While it's still on the ground, lift the nose, and it should come back down and touch softly. If it comes down too fast or hard, move the battery back until it doesn't. Better luck next time! 😁👍🛩

I’m sorry but I got to call bs. First off, the “$1,500” jet is actually $500; you guys are lying for dramatic affect. Also, if someone has flown an rc airplane before, let alone a real plane, then they will know what the cg is, and the GoPro was not far off the cg anyways. The plane should have flown just fine, maybe a little nose heavy and out of trim but the gyro would have handled it. If he had the knowledge to fix the retracts and the rest of the F-18 after the crashes then he’d know how to balance it. In addition, I checked online and the Eflite FA-18 isn’t sold on Amazon and the fastest shipping is well over a day, so you likely had the backup purchased before so you could use it after intentionally crashing the first, and then canibalize it for its merely cosmetic parts that the other aircraft didn’t need to get back in the air. For further evidence of staging, if the LiPo was actually about to explode (they don’t explode, just burn very intensely) you wouldn’t walk in circles and say “that things about to explode” for an hour before doing something, you’d unplug it and throw it in a sand bucket. One last issue, how’d you get footage of the FA-18 flying if they all crashed on their maiden flights and haven’t fixed it yet because you haven’t gotten your 100k likes? Either you flew it before without intentionally crashing for once, or you had someone else at the field do it.

Then how come he didn’t check the CG? As a pilot, he should understand the importance of that. He should also understand the importance of using flaps to assist in the takeoff. Also, he should know about the incredible amount of drag that the GoPro creates when situated on the wing root glove. The antics in this video were quite frankly amateurish, and leaves us questioning if he truly has experience flying RC planes.

Thats awesome fellas. Thanx for the laugh. U all did good. I fill ya piolet, dang ole pricey piece of junk jet.

Nah, it’s not a piece of junk jet, the pilot simply couldn’t fly it. Maybe let his pride get in the way. It’s a 529 dollar RC jet. And, oh by the way, it’s the easiest to fly of it’s size and design.
