I really like this. I’ve tried one of these before and enjoyed playing it. I’m not sure why the negative views on extra string and tuning. I like the idea that guitar players can get a banjo sound. However the to me the authentic sound of the banjo is in its tuning. I can really see myself getting one of these, tune it to open G but substitute the low E string for a string that can be tuned to a high G and presto - it’s a regular banjo with an extra low G. But darned, sweet home Alabama sounds good on that in standard tuning.

Banjos are weird, for some reason they can't sustain notes very well, so bends don't work very well 🤔

Phil chaser I have the same banjitar as in this video and bending doesn't work well, the note goes really quiet, I think due to the resonance from the membrane trying to sustain the original pitch or something. Also out of the box it is strung really heavy which prevents bending very far. (I am a guitar noob so sorry if my explanation is bad).

Usually, I try to avoid a 6 string banjo, but everyone I know who plays one plays it like a guitar. It's just for guitar players who can't play banjo, but want that kind of sound in their band. Though I will say because their made so differently, a 6 has a more muffled sound than a 5

I've read some comments below: "NOT BANJO!!!11", "NOT REAL!!!111" Guys, please. If it has a membrane and is plucked, it is banjo, when not noted otherwise. That's the whole concept. Not the amount of strings, tuning, picking etc. You see a stoned Jamaican drumming on a guitar with one string and you won't call it "percussion bass with a guitar body", right? So that's a banjo. It has the main concept, and that's it. Calling it names like "a guitar with a drum of a body", inventing crazy names like "guitjtjtjo" or using Indian terminology like "banjitar" feels like you're a worm squirming on a hot frying pan, afraid to pronounce the oh-so-sacred word "banjo". It is an obvious elephant in a room and you defy it. It's like you point at a lion and start proving everyone that's a pigeon with a lion body and a lion head. Ultra-conservatives, please, just stick your head in a jug and remain there. There are traditions that are meant to be kept, and there are traditions that are meant to be developed. The lowest string's tuning key on a real five string banjo is half way down the neck. This is a Les Paul with a banjo body.
