I use a 2 terabyte drive made by Samsung called the T7 Shield. It works amazingly well with tons of storage space. I've never heard of the CEC option. None of my HDMI ports are marked that way. Nonetheless, I have perfect voice control over everything no matter what port I'm plugged into. Great video!

Great video. The CEC option in my case because I have older TVs is a setting on the television...and I believe one of my televisions calls it something other than CEC, but basically works same. I am going to pick up some new OTG adapters also since the one I have been using seems to have some issues (firestick keeps randomly restarting and issue stopped when removed it)...so thanks for the Amazon link.

I greatly appreciate your info. I got everything I need. I am waiting for the ethernet cable to come in the mail which I guess I should’ve went and bought somewhere else but I am one of those person to like to say money so I bought it from eBay did not know it was gonna take a little longer to get here than I thought but I am in no hurry since I own multiple devices, I have the 4K max without the ethernet cable but what keeps happening and believe me I tried every trick that I gotta learn is the the picture keeps freezing turn all the things off in the fire stick you could turn off updated it telling me to erase everything and start all over again which I am not going to do. I got other devices that doesn’t freeze. I’m waiting for the ethernet cable to come in the mail and see if that will solve the problem. I do have another device connected to the ethernet, and it does not freeze T 95 is what it’s called. Start out a little slow and then it picks up speed when it warms up. I keep it off when I’m not using it connected to my big TV but I watch my little TV regularly. I have three of them 4K max fire stick that I bought about a year or so ago, that’s the one that keeps freezing. Very happy that I spend extra money for it end up freezing on me. I bought the new Walmart on device which works just as good and does not freeze get that which was $25 cheaper made by Google who knew I still like my Firestick because it’s easier to download programs and it has much more programming available in it, I will fix the problem. I will find out what it is. I will keep looking at your videos. I have been watching your videos and learned a lot in the last three or four or who knows five years. I think I’m more surviving cancer in 2022 my memory doesn’t serve me well anymore, but I am still here, thank the Lord for that God bless. Have a nice day.

Having trouble both 4K and a prior fire stick, which you mentioned may require a step I have not found. On the 4K it asked me if I wanted to use it for storage for additional apps, and when I said yes, it form it said it would format the drive so it took it out of fat32 mode. No, it doesn’t show me the increase of the 32gb. Now I’m afraid to plug the second drive into the 4K which had originally Rick recognized it because now I’ve told that I’m gonna be using one that doesn’t have fat32. Confused, with apology.

Yeah you should watch our full video which is easy to find in playlists on our channel. You need to do internal or device storage. Only way it will appear is if you have a 4k max. If you have an older model you can only transfer or record your external. That’s what the “max” means in firestick. The main reason it’s more expensive. Your models are from 2018 and older. Not designed to do this

Just a quick follow up question I took your advice and bought the 2nd gen while it was on special, it replaces my 4K Max and its working great! I want to keep using my Ethernet port can you recommend a way to do this? I have a UGREEN USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter Hub with RJ45 10 100 1000 Gigabit Ethernet port. That I have used with the 4 K Max, so can I use this on the 2nd Gen. and just take out the old USB 64 flash drive and put a new one in for the new Firestick? And save the old 64GB flash drive for the 4 K Max? Thanks for the help!

I am using what you told us to use with my fire stick 4 k max on a 6 year old Samsung and a 10 year old Sony tv. Samsung tv shows USB Drive. Sony tv does not show USB Drive. Are you using the usb port on the tv to power it? That might be the issue with the other one. Bypass that and use the wall outlet

Part of the story is missing. TV would have nothing to do with compatability with the drive. Only the stick model, hard drive model, and setup.

Power for the fire stick is from power cord plugged into the wall, outlet. Tv set only has one USB port and the fire stick is connected to it. Equipment I am using on the Sony tv is the same as I am using on the Samsung tv. No problem with the Samsung tv. Could I have a defective thumb drive on the Sony tv?

USB and HDMI are different. Your firestick is plugged into the HDMI. So your tv doesn't have a USB? If it's a different drive, then it's probably not formatted to fat32. Should be an easy fix

It’s from back in 2019. It’s a different process as it won’t pull up directly. You have to manually do it with es file explorer. Did you do that?

Sadly it's not the same. The "MAX" model is the only one that seamlessly allows expansion. You can still do it with the cube and access content on es file explorer. But recording to it might be more work.

You connect the antenna to the firestick with the OTG adapter, NOT the tv. It has to go through your stick to populate the channels. That's what the otg adapter does

Sometimes the Arc is an enhanced port that will also have CEC controls. I would refer to your manual. Not all TVs offer it, but most after 2020 do

Yes, the 4k is not. the same as the 4k max. The process is different. We have a video on how to do it. It's back from 2020 since that stick is so old. You need to pre-format the drive to fat32, and use es file explorer. You will be limited with what you can do with that one. Better off upgrading to a Max

No, only the Max has the auto functioning expansion. That's the the "max" means. I have a video on the 2018 4k stick that you have I posted back in 2019. I would look at an upgrade on black friday. They will be half off and it's a way better unit.

Yeah the 4k max is the only model that automatically recognizes the drive. Please watch our 2019 expansion drive video. Your stick is about 6 years old. It’s not the same process

Are you meaning a fire tv edition tv? It's a different process for that. We have an older video that will help. The MAX firestick is the only one they ever made with seamless expansion. You can plug in a USB right to your tv and format it manually and move stuff to it, but you won't be able to access it from your home screen or record to it from apps on your tv
