By your compliment of Tristan, you are only proving and reinforcing his number 7 point, which is that australians are quick to accept you as australian for enjoying a frozen coca cola from McDonald's. If you so much as chew the corner off a tim Tam and use it as a makeshift straw for your milk, you will probably give them australian citizenship lol!
@308chewy
@308chewy Жыл бұрын
@@danielkim7841 you need to nibble off 2 opposing corners from your tim tam to do it right ! But yes that will definitely get you your citizenship, no question!
@danielkim7841
@danielkim7841 Жыл бұрын
@@308chewy don't be silly! We all know that the REAL test for attaining Australian citizenship is that you have to know how to put together the perfect amount of butter and vegemite together on toasted bread, with not too much or not too little vegemite. Plus you have to name all the states of Australia in the chronological order they were founded, name 2 kylie Minogue songs, wrestle a crocodile, and ride a kangaroo. If you say "shrimp" and not "prawn" you will automatically be deported from Australia by immigration officials. But if Tristan so much as puts an entire dessertspoonful of vegemite in his mouth and swallows it, not only will Australians be impressed enough to give him australian citizenship, they will rename the Sydney Opera House as The Tristan Opera House! Australians seem that welcoming!
@308chewy
@308chewy Жыл бұрын
@@danielkim7841 I dunno about all that but the Vegemite to butter ratio is super important! Australians are happy to have anyone here for a visit or a permanent stay , just as long as they are easy to get along with and don't take themselves to seriously! Yanks tend to be a bit too "full on" for most of us.

In Australia I found that you can retain your own cultural identity and cultural ways provided you're also willing to fit in with Society. It means you can be who you are and part of the society too and you are still considered Australian. There are many famous people in Australia that are considered both Australian and are known for their cultural origins.

This, As an Australian born and bred I can attest to this. As long as you are not shoving it down our throats and following our laws, then you can live however the hell you want. Most of us do not care about such minor things, you do you. I have learnt so much over the years about different cultures just from living around people who originated in other countries and brought it over here.

@Rita Review I agree. My parents migrated in the 70s from the Netherlands. My parents are more Australian than Dutch. We know about their culture and they are proud Australian. I think we are a multicultural country it’s important to respect cultures. My parents spoke Dutch at home and when friends came over they thought it was rude to talk Dutch if people cannot understand. My friends family’s from other countries never spoke their language around you now its common to do that. Also people move to areas where their culture is especially in Melbourne. So I don’t think that is integrating into the community. I live in the country and it’s all Australians. I’m a proud Aussie 🇦🇺

"Holiday" means something different to Americans, they use the word to refer to things like St Valentine's Day and Halloween and so on, which are not public holidays in the Australian sense. Tradie Culture: I used to drive a concrete truck and one particular crew of concrete finishers I used to cart to used to crack me up. Whenever I turned up with a load for them, there would be this very involved conversation/argument over how long it would take them to pour and finish that many cubic metres. To laying out your honest and decisive opinions without giving a shit towards the overly pc culture the world in general has adopted. You basically shoot straight, without aiming to offend and leave it up to the Nancy's of the country to CHOOSE to be offended. That's right, CHOOSE!. Our chill culture has definitely rubbed off on you in the best posible way. I believe your most positive take away from this country of ours should be... To be true to yourself. You be you... honest, straight forward & direct. If others have issues with that, then it's something THEY have to work on and should not be redirected or deflected on anyone else. Hot tip, if you can't get chicken salt where you are, use the chicken flavour sachet out of the Maggi (or similar brand) 2 minute/instant noodles on your chips (not the noodle soup). Its not the same, but pretty close.

In regards to no.17 I think that stems back to when Aus was actually several countries, with each current state being its own country, so cultures developed independently to some small extent
