I'm honestly upset that they painted over it. I feel like it should've been repurposed into half apartments and half historical stuff. The sign DEFINITELY shouldn't have been painted over.

They are being fined for more than 4 million dollars for the sign alone. From what I have gathered in my own searches is that, they are not getting away with it, but they are trying to do as they please to make money yes. He bought the place for like 30 mil. And spent over 100 mil in renovations alone in 2017. The extent of the historical damages need to be recorded, documented and brought to court to get the final verdict. But they haven’t even started with the case, because “they can’t get in to asses the damages. Private property right? Just like everything else they need warrants and permission to go inside. I’m sure if the people make more noise about this the process can move faster. I don’t think they should be able to do such things with historical buildings. I think if renovations are in order then a historian and official one, should be hired and sent in to review what they want to change BEFORE they change anything. But sadly… this is why we got. I wonder if anyone will protest against this change. It goes against ALL historical laws set to preserve our history. Enough of our history has not only been destroyed but a lot goes untold. But yeah, that’s where they are at now. Honestly….. can’t we sue the owner for making such changes? If enough people do so…. Maybe we can get the changes made to bring it back to its historical stature. No money would be rewarded, but I think the hotel should belong to a museum. That way people can always go see it. The extra rooms can be used as viewing areas for the guests, like different scary haunting themes to go on each floor. Telling you through stories about other haunting places out in the world. I think that would be really cool.

This isn’t the first time LA County has used a historical landmark that’s known to be haunted, and turned it into low income housing. There’s low income housing at the old Metro Hospital, in Norwalk, I lived there for 11 years. Had many similar issues, no security cameras, high increase of emergency vehicles, dangerous windows, windows without screens etc. If Peet, or maybe someone else has more questions, I’m willing to talk, but I probably don’t want my face shown on camera.

I enjoy the videos, very creative! A suggestion learned in college TV broadcasting is when doing various backgrounds (video or otherwise) with you in the foreground, use yellow light(s) up & behind you with a broadcast blue or green screen. The colors will reflect on your head & shoulders making you partially or tottaly disappear. A yellow overhead casting a highlight on your head & shoulders. This will cancels the reflected blue or green light from the backdrop preventing you from fading in/out of you. Avoid wearing clothes that have those 2 colors or those areas will disappear revealing the image. Those 2 colors are specific for chroma keys, matts, etc. They're usually not used in fabrics used in clothing manufacturing. Keep up the great work. There is more info online & youtube. God bless!

I live all the way in Detroit by Eloise & when I learned about skid row over a decade ago & learned about the housing crisis in California my first and only thought was why aren't they utilizing the hotel to help the homeless. We have homeless people in Detroit but we have too many vacant homes whole neighborhoods-vacant the majority are legally unlivable but people stay where they need to stay and no one owns these vacant houses. So it's nothing as severe as it is in LA. It breaks my ❤️

@@ReticulatingSplines_ The thing about that, is if you clean up the buildings and put businesses in that neighborhood that create foot traffic; it will change. Skid row has been really bad practically my whole life, and that avenue used to be a highlight of that area. WOW! I know they said they were trying to improve the place but seems Los Angelas has been knocking down every historic landmark they can in the name of progress! The doughnut you see in Ironman was moved to save it! But a lot of iconic places have been knocked down - this is why when I hear that they made one a registered historic place, I ask "Yeah how long will that last?" This is sad but not at all surprising! What I hope they do is if it is low income, that the company does keep up the building!

In case you guys don’t know who Elisa Lam is,she was visiting the Cecil hotel. She was in the elevator clicking random buttons, which no one knows why. It’s almost as someone was chasing her,but she has bipolar something (I don’t know the name I’m sorry) And she didn’t take her medications. So I’m pretty sure she was hallucinating. Now this part is interesting. Some people from the hotel started complaining about the water being weird color, and funny taste. So the employees went to check it out. They opened the lid,and found Elisa Lam dead in the tank. Now since she was hallucinating, she probably thought to “hide” in the water tanks,to get away from the “chasing person” Now I’m sorry this is very long, but I tried my best to explain 😂

Yeah so I'm a huge fan of yours, bought tickets to your comedy show in Cambridge Mass at Sonia today and we can't get in because no one is there. Drove a few hours too, hoping nothing happened, but this is quite a surprise. I was taking my 14 yr old daughter for her birthday. I have a disappointed daughter 😔

Them not closing exits and removing ladders probably as to do with fire code to be honest- each room has to have 2 ways out in the event of a fire or other emergency

Hotels I've stayed in have had an alarm on the emergency exits to prevent guests from using them in a non emergency.

Peet I know this has particularly hurt your heart. This is so sad I'm sorry. They can't take down what's really lurking inside though.

You shouldn't go to the Hinsdale House in New York and investigate. Not only is the house haunted but there are things in the woods that surround the old farmhouse, Cryptids . I love watching your videos with you and your mom. You two have a awesome relationship. That Tic Toc with you and your sister ,Dora, that was hysterical 🤣.

I believe that it's the city's screw up. The city had the original Cecil Hotel sign in their records that was repainted in 1940's, not the more current one. I don't know how or if the city can reverse their error.

The emergency exit solutions you suggested may fall under the same laws you mentioned about historical landmarks and keeping them how they are. That being said, I have seen some clever work arounds in some historic districts, one of which being wardrobes and book shelves mounted to the windows so you can't fit by or jump. The emergency exits though I don't believe you can do anything really about, because A it is an emergency entrance and exit that needs access. And B to basically add a blockade of some kind to where the water pumps are you need some kind of papers and release like they got for the signs out front. And with all the outrage of the signs being redone with ads the housing for skid row may be a little uneasy with giving them the rights build on more.
