This is a place where you take your grandchild, so that his mind can absorb all this while he is young, and while he still has lots of room in his brain to store all the information. When I was about ten, (1960), I took a tour one of the Ford Motor Company plants, Baton Rouge, as I remember it. I went with school. We walked on a catwalk 60 feet in the air, above the work floor of an absolutely massive building. Below the workers were building Ford trucks, including stamping out fenders with a huge steam-driven hammer-press. The education I took from that trip is still with me today. Because I saw them building it, there's nothing I cannot fix today, though, unlike Jonathan, there is plenty I'll never decide to undertake. Of everything I've watched Jonathan fix, it is his crane I find most impressive, because it is an incredibly useful resurrection. Good show, Jonathan. Thanks for the tour.

Jonathan finding, fixing and driving that Unit Crane out of the woods is my all-time favorite playlist. That he was able to find that NOS bronze gear, pull the engine, and get her going was fun to watch. Like you say, that crane has turned out to be quite useful at the homestead.

Yes need to take them when there young because once these so called teacher's we have today that want to ruin the mind's of children to there one sided way of thinking and to put history on the back burner if not completely erased all together so take them while there young and will listen and remember what they were used for and maybe get to run some of it if at this place anyway .just hope his wife keeps this place going for many more years so more younger kids can see this wonderful place .

I went through the "education" system fairly recently being born in the 90's. What a complete waste. They taught almost nothing of practical use, didn't cultivate any interests and pretty much told us that the only success is found in money and materialism. Not to mention telling children that they are bad. Looking back, it seems that all of 2nd grade was a racial guilt trip. I meet men my age who CAN'T USE A RATCHET. Imagine that. Sad fucking state the country's in. All you can do is try to develop an interest in mechanics in those around you teach what you know but more often than not it falls on deaf ears.

Thank you. Incredible collection. I’ve been once. Easily $50 million and generously made available to the general public occasionally to help understand the importance of transportation history. Similarly, Barber Motorsports Museum - Leeds, AL REVS - Naples, FL Lane Museum - Nashville USAF Museum Dayton, OH Peterson - Los Angeles Wheels Through Time, NC RE Olds Lansing, MI Several in Huntsville, AL ETC…. Obviously, Smithsonian x2 and Ford Many more internationally. People need to get off their phones and see what made it all possible.

John Fowler, Leeds, England My home city... Fowler's did a lot of massive plowing engines...designed to work in pairs... The old factory is still there on the Hunslet road...it's been restored and retains all it's stained glass and panels... It's now part of the Leeds city college. 🇬🇧🙂

Listening to the stories reminded me of the day I worked for a railroad recovery company. By "day", I actually mean a couple of hours. I was 18 years old and I'd just started working for them. A coupling hitch suspended by a cable from a crane was slung around the coupling on a car and we'd just set it back on the track. I was working on disconnecting it, trying to decide which would be easier: lower it down easily or just let it drop to the ground. As I continued to disconnect it, gravity made the decision for me. Unfortunately, my foot just happened to be under it. 50 lbs of steel dropping from a height of a couple feet off the ground ended my career in railroad recovery rather quickly. They didn't fire me. But they soon relocated to another town and, although they offered to keep me on, my recovery time was too long.

We say "where did all of the old iron go?" I have often wondered how many machines were melted down into tanks, ships, & guns throughout 2 World Wars in defense of freedom. The few that survived to this day were scattered around the country in sheds and fields waiting to be rescued,. This fellow made a gallant effort to amass a collection to share with the World. I met this guy in Edgerton Wis a few years back and he was the most unassuming guy. He was looking for a dragline bucket for his place and i asked what size and he said 80 to 100 yards... I knew then and there he wasn't a regular collector! Thanks JW for showing this! UNREAL

I'm retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 40 years. I hired in as a welder and over the years I did about every hourly job on the shop floor including skilled trades as an electrician before moving into management. I worked for Global Purchasing for a while at the East Peoria plant and occasionally would be tasked with giving tours to some of the suppliers when visiting. Almost all were impressed with the scale of the machinery involved even those that regularly visited the auto plants of the big three. One of the highlights of the tour would be if I gave them a ride on a D10 or D11 if one was available because I held a qualified tractor drivers licence. Nothing like climbing up on a D11 since its about the same as sitting on top of a single car garage and driving it around.

That must of been the nature of the beast with the tracks comming off that Allis- Chambers loader you operated. My first dozer I ever operated was a 1957 Allis-Chambers HD-6. And I think everytime I tried turning a little harder then other times the Damn track fell off. Now I know it was worn out. But I could never turn real tight or I was putting on a track. I was 16 years old when I was operating it. And I thought I died and went to Heaven. LOL...HAHA...Hard to believe one man owns all that. Im glad he saved all that old iron. Because maybe alot of it could of been scrapped without him saving it. Awesome Collection. Would love to see it in person..Great Video as always And have a Save trip to Ohio...

Friend of mine works with a guy that restored a lot of those steam tractors for Ken. He turned me on to this show back in 2019 and I took a guy from my church and he never stopped talking about it lol. Took him Saturday morning and he showed me the Allis Chalmers HD5 like he used to own and the Bucyrus 10B he used to own also. He's 92 now and besides it being so dang cold and windy, he had a great time thanks to the golf cart rental lol
