So everyone left carthrottle because they cut funding for projects like the challenges, and the restorations, and now they have suddenly found money for them again, because they realised its a dead channel. Nothing against the new presenters, but screw the owners.

Feel so sorry for Alex and Matt, they've inherited a ship that's sinking due to the greedy money-centric decisions of those above them. Car Throttle promised to be one of the most exciting new automotive channels but forcing out the passionate people that worked so hard to get it to where it was is just an absurd business decision. You can't run passion in a corporate way.

Then Car Throttle rushed to find two presenters quickly for the channel to continue making content, but people moved on to their standalone channels; AutoAlex, TopDeadCentre etc , no one is here to watch CT really

I think there's a very left-field choice that would work for this: A Megane CC. It looks a bit goofy, but it has a glass folding roof, and I think with a few mods the first version would look pretty cool. I'm thinking Moon discs, enclosed rear wheels, and a custom front bumper would make it look futuristic instead of big-arsed.

I've just bought my first ever convertible... a 2007 Audi A4 SLine 2.0TDi Auto convertible... I set out to buy an estate-type family car, but became obsessed with the idea of a soft top, and it's the best decision ever! I now drive around with the biggest smile on my face!! And best of all... it was only £800!!! Everyone should own a convertible at least once in their life 👍

Should have went for the CLK320 or 230. Bulletproof powertrains, The roof rarely has mechanical issues and would have been a solid car to keep around and use as a project.

Yes was the engine was fitted to the 2.0 non turbo GTi MK4 (as mentioned only here as model exercise by VAG UK, everywhere else a 2.0 GL). It was the MK3 GTI 115bhp 8v unit reincarnated into use in both cases

It was just a Mk3 Golf with the front bumper, front wings, bonnet and headlights facelifted to _resemble_ the Mk4 Golf’s styling - they are known as a Mk3.5. I always wondered why they just did that instead of a proper Mk4 convertible.

I enjoy the content from these two. Struggling to understand the haters. This is a format so many channels use so to say it’s worn out is just a bit bitter. In fact I’ll take this over Rory and Taylor any day and their purchase video - nice as they are. Car magazines did crap car challenges decades ago; they did cross European trips in cars. None of the old Car Throttle or even Top Gear content was new. They’ve just served the old stuff in new formats.

Dear Car Throttle Team - I don't think your channel will work out in the future if you just copy and upload the same video-ideas as alex does as well as putting them online at the same time, hoping that viewers will watch your video, too. Last week it was the MPG Challenge (Which AA did as well in another way) uploaded at the same time, today it is a car buying challenge (Which AA uploaded as well a hour ago). Tbh I just came here to comment and say, what I don't like for some time now. Are you just a AutoAlex copycat hoping to make some money? I really can't see what your plans are! Your content is missing passion and unique ideas. I really wish you the best of luck to find another concept because I've got the feeling that this way of creating content won't work in the future. I also remember someone repurposing their R18 Gets as a banger racer. Autoalex is doing nothing new - it’s much the same as Top Gear did. Buying the most boring car on the planet is definitely not the content that car guys/girls are looking for. The presenters are really trying, but I do think that this was not their idea. People that decide definitely don't know what they are doing. Picking a Golf, and not some quirky car like a Saab definitely shows that. People want to see something that they are always thinking about but would never buy, not a Golf. That makes it fun... not a Golf! Not a Golf!
