@shona55124 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. When I worked at a used car dealership, we had anywhere between 40-60 cars on the forecourt at any given time. Average price worked out around 13k, (500-800k in total) and we were selling 10-20 cars per week and bringing in another half trailer load of cars every week to keep the stock up. But we also had a back lot, for trade ins (like the Vitara) that weren't good enough for the forecourt, and they always got snatched up real quick because we just wanted rid of them. Having a lot of cars out front doesn't mean you haven't been able to sell them, it can just mean you've got a lot of space for a lot of different cars to ensure you have something for almost everyone. Granted, this was 2 years ago. His story could be different what with covid and all.

Quick PSA, just because a car has a valid MOT, it doesn't mean it is still road legal. You are still required to keep the vehicle in a safe condition.

@@ondank They're probably not, it's just that rarely do customers/victims organise together to take down a garage and it's usually too much hassle for one person.
@imnotamechanic34914 жыл бұрын
Interestingly, a car only has to be roadworthy and have a valid MOT, which means you can legally drive a car you know would fail an MOT provided it is roadworthy, which is a far more limited definition - basically the lights and brakes must work, lights and windows should be clean. The car should also be maintained (so tyres have tread and air, washer bottle has fluid, brake and other fluids checked). So, in all likelihood, that car is road legal, although you do wonder how it passed an MOT 8 months ago!
@drunkenhobo80204 жыл бұрын
@@imnotamechanic3491 For example I presume it's not illegal to drive a car with broken front fog lights, even though that would be an MOT fail.
@lazar21754 жыл бұрын
@@drunkenhobo8020 Woah UK is strange, i thought we had strict vehicle inspections, but a MOT fail for broken fog lights is crazy. A lot of cars don't even have front fog lights, is that insta fail? I thought UK was pretty chill about vehicle modifications so this is weird.

Hey, the forester isn't a bad car, but definitely not the strongest car around. I drive a USDM version of that gen (SF) Forester with a 2.5 Liter Flat 4(EJ251) with 222900miles, and no issues. Plus that one had a decent looking wiper park position meaning the wipers are still good.

Ironically, at roughly the same time the guys were filming this, I was also scouring the small ads looking for something with enough MOT to get me through lockdown. I ended up with a Mazda 323 1.6 shitbox with pretty much the same rust and coolant issues. Mine has MOT to March so I may have to learn to weld if lockdown is extended. 😂 Good job boys!
