This wins most authentic monster tank on youtube. Nobody has done a huge aquarium with fish all native to the same stream. I know I couldn't resist adding something not native if for no reason than most of the fish you have are not even available to be bought.

Oliver: Sets up a 17 foot tank, doesn't put any fish in it bigger than the size of a hand. LEGEND!

I agree with you on flow. I have a 240 gallon and the Rainbows and barbs are also on the fish treadmill with a strong flow through the tank. I hate the fish are like balloons look...so I have a strong flow and the fish are always tailing and when they get closer to the pump outlet REALLY enjoy that going upstream effort. Healthy for them.

How cool is this!!! I love it so much... my home is full of large aquariums. I have about 7 tanks in the house... smallest is a 54 gallon corner tank, up to my largest tank which is a wall tank/ room dividing aquarium that separates the formal living room from the den. It has a 1,728 gallon tank only (not including the sump) of water capacity (measured by inside dimensions of the tank). All my aquariums are species type tanks which are filled with oddball predatory freshwater fish, and house a wide variety of species that I have always liked for one reason or another. I sure would like to buy a group of #4 to 7+ baby sized 2.5" inch Black Arowana Fry to grow out in hopes of getting a pair or 2 from it...

What a most interesting aquarium. I also like the South American fishes and habitats. The Leporinas are great. have a 110 forest type tank with local (sycamore root) hardwood and rocks (Indiana). Thank you.
@StanTheObserver-lo8rx4 жыл бұрын
The Pantanal is also a very fine habitat!..home of Leporinus sp. I've said for years a Leporinus species ,Anostomus and Headstanders aquarium would be a tank of color,spots,stripes and activity. You know the Brycons might appreciate some fruits to eat..vegetables. I know I had large Leporinus and they loved canned corn (as did the Red Hooks)..the Plecos too are all over cooked vegetables and raw fruits. What a great tank. I would only add..you need better lighting..that one does not enhance the colors of the fish much..reds don't show. Its a visual hobby..lighting is very important. Try Fluval's I hear they give a great color rendition.

Hi Oliver, ive seen both parts when they where uploaded and today remembered to come back for a rewatch once again. Is this tank still going? Can we have an update? Thanks
@belowwater Жыл бұрын
yes, still going, but does not really look any different. The _Geophagus argyrostictus_ have timed out got too old, but the tank now has some _Sartor respectus_ ! Check out the Xingu book video I just uploaded: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqC8mnxugdx6hpY

@belowwater Жыл бұрын
thank you. No, black neon are _Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi_ , these are _Moenkhausia heikoi_ , a tetra endemic to the Xingu rapids. You can see them in nature in our Xingu Book video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqC8mnxugdx6hpY

Hi very nice, I wanted to know what kind of rocks you used.
@belowwater3 жыл бұрын
the rocks are from the Canadian Shield (they are mostly granite boulders, not so different from the boulders in the Xingu). I do use some sand stone that has been worn by silica pebbles dragged across it (ice picks up hard pebbles of silica, then grind them across the sand stone to make grooves)

way too big, they would eat their way through the smaller stuff, I wanted to go for fish that get along long term.

it looks the same, the fish don't really get bigger. But I will see if we can introduce something else worthwhile to make a video.

The destruction of the various river systems in the Amazon is absolutely devastating to me. Especially the Xingu. I've read articles in Nat Geo from the eighties and nineties describing an untouched wilderness. So much destruction in just 20 years.
