I am austrian and this is absolutely incredible to learn about. my father works as a conservationist and hes gonna show his team this video. its sad and dissapointing that the farmers threw the fish into this river, but in a way it is still beautiful to see how they adapt and even thrive. Non native species should never be released into the wild, especially not born in captivity ones. It can have unforseeable effects on the eco system as a whole. but man is it special. I hope I can visit this creek someday!

I grew up there and still live here. It's literally like that for decades. The city tried to fish all the exotic breeds several times but they never managed to get out all of them + locals keep bringing in new fishes. It's also true that there is very limited harm to the local eco system. The creek further down is already cooler and it leads to a much faster river (Gail) which is freezing cold even im summer. OC it's a bad idea to set out your tropical fishes in a local creek like that, but I have to admit it played out rather good. We also have a lake nearby where locals set out their water turtels and there was a significant population for years.

If it's just about a warm portion where they can survive, without ancient endemic species, I can't see the problem. Not even temperate non-native species, fully able to survive in the local waters, are necessarily invasive. The number of potential trouble-makers is quite low, in fact. For most exotic species, even if they can take the cold, it would be a miracle to just insert themselves discretely and being able to survive. Think about cold hardy killies, Macropodus and small Cyprinids- very low chance to establish, and zero for invasiveness. Bullhead catfish, otoh, will conquer the lakes and large rivers. Only the swift, shallow ones won't be colonised.

Okay, this is an amazing little documentary. I had no idea a tiny tropical reef existed in Europe. Kinda reminds me of the parrots that have set up little communities in a few major German cities, but this stream has all sorts of species from the tropics. Keep up the amazing work, your camera work, editing, and even the narration were all done incredibly well. I'm shocked you only have 8k subs, you'll probably take off soon, but for now you got one more subscriber at least.

@@risilvaHonestly with how good this doc came out, you should try your hand at filming other types of wild life. I think people have a fascination with animals setting up communities so far from their natural habitats, kinda reminds us of ourselves. Though at the end of the day, film what interests _you_ , because if you're excited about whatever you're filming it'll translate into a much better final product than filming something you find boring / not very interesting. Whatever you choose for your next project, I'll be sure to check it out. Best of luck mate!
