Yeah FairPlay you’re not getting a 2023 Motorhome for £500 unless you rent it for the weekend , that said under the bonnet this thing wants shooting, wafting paint over it covering up just adds to the problem and flogging it to a idiot is usually what happens for a earner . Ahh well

Sorry Neil, not being critical just offering some advice, I trained as an aircraft electrician way back. I’ve been using solder sleeves since the early 1970’s in the aviation industry, and you should make the stripped end of the wires a little shorter. The reason being the coloured bands inside the solder sleeve is the environmental seal and should be shrunk onto the ends of the wire insulation. The ones I was used to were made of quite a tough shrink sleeve and the coloured bands red, blue or yellow depending on size was made of nylon. As the main sleeve shrinks the nylon melted and sealed round the wire insulation forming an environmental seal to keep out moisture. As you can imagine in aircraft manufacture and maintenance we had strict fitting standards for these sleeves. We weren’t allowed the hook and twist method, the two (or more) wires had to be stripped and laid parallel before the sleeve was shrunk. Your method does have the advantage of a bit more mechanical strength, but the seals wont work unless they are on the insulation. Moisture can creep in under the end of the sleeve then migrate up between the multi cores of the wire into the joint. I do have to admit to being one of “those” As you started on the solar panel job I was saying “clean the roof Neil, the sticky stuff will bond better” then you shot me down when you said “of course I cleaned the roof first” Maybe that’s what’s in the safe Neil, all the f**ks you need to give to the negative nannies, that’s why you haven’t found them yet! The worlds full of critics, that can only criticise and think negatively. Good job on the old van though, lots of work, but great results. Keep on with the videos.

Looking great. Used bedec multi surface paint for a while now and as it’s water based you can dilute it and use a spray gun too.
