Hello Clay & Bo [Critical Hits & Bad Misses] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Yes Nightwish were the headliners that year. I believe the act that was on stage before them was Alice Cooper. Hope you continue with other Nightwish reactions. Welcome guys, this band, Nightwish will blow you away, they have so many songs that will blow your mind. They are known as symphonic metal, but every new song is a new story with a different path. Tremendously talented all of them, Tuomas the keyboardist writes almost everything and he is known as the Metal Mozart. Floor Jansen is the lead singer, she has classical as well as years of vocal training, also vocal coach. She is the best I have ever heard, vocally she can do whatever she chooses. Gabriel Bardac should be along with plenty of info on the band and suggested songs, he is like Nightwish Army's Greeter and General. I hope you continue on this path, I will like and sub in hopes you do check out more.

The song that followed this was called Song Of Myself and is one of my favourite songs and I strongly recommend it. Nightwish were headlining and did a 15 song set and every one a banger. @@criticalhitsbadmisses Hello! If you liked Nightwish, you will almost certainly also like Epica, another big name in the symphonic metal subgenre! Basically, there's no one above these two bands (though Therion is close). Epica is usually heavier than Nightwish, but still very melodic, with top-notch musical compositions. Their lead singer is a classically trained goddess Simone Simons who also happens to be a friend of Floor, the lead singer of Nightwish (they've performed together as well). Unlike Nightwish, Epica also performed with a live orchestra and choir a couple times. If you'd like to see an example, check out "Epica - Unleashed (Official Live)" For one of their longer (but also heavier) epic masterpieces "Epica - Kingdom of Heaven part 3" (Omega Alive) Any questions? 😁 PS: do NOT start your Epica journey with "Consign to Oblivion" unless you are into heavy music/vocals. Welcome to our Nightwish obsession from Canada. I have seen Nightwish live in 2022. They are truly bards. Many others will fill you in on their background and song catalog. Check out thier song Edema Ruh played live acoustic on the Baltic Princess or the special fan video to see how they view themselves as a band of travelling minstrels from fantasy books. They have a Celtic folky side as well which I love.

“MY FAVORITE NIGHTWISH SONG IS ALWAYS THE LAST ONE IVE LISTENED TOO!”. It’s been my mantra for over 20 plus years for this very old Metal rock head! Ghost Love Score was the 13th song of a 15 song set at this concert. They have no bad song in my humble opinion! I’d start with the opening song Dark Chest of Wonders and just go thru the set list but if your able to read this because the Nightwish Army will be invading your channel to give you great suggestions and help in discovering this amazing band. Welcome to Nightwish! As to what it's like being in the crowd at one of their concerts, it's amazing - they are this good pretty much all the time! This being the most reacted-to video rather than another of theirs is largely down to the filmmaking choices getting across the atmosphere particularly well, the sound quality, and the focus on Floor (which makes it an easy "in"), plus the composition providing an opportunity to show off more of their range than some of their shorter songs from the same DVD. I recommend going with Gabriel's list for at least a few more reactions, then we can get a feel for what you like and make more tailored suggestions.

That was song 13 of a 15 song set. Every Nightwish song is an encore. They are always headliners. Their first and last song are usually very heavy. Floor sings every genre pitch perfect and powerful. Stick with their live performances. It’s fun watching the band interactions and they can do live what most bands can’t even pull off in the studio. 😄🤘

I would argue that Floor singing pitch perfect isn't even the point. She is skilled enough that we already expect that. The point is what vocal style she uses for each part of the song. And it appears that she has decided that she will not perform the end of GLS twice the same way so that's always a nice surprise.

Thanks so much for acting on my suggestion. As I said previously, this song Ghost Love Score is one of the softer/slower songs by Nightwish. They can and usually do go harder. A good song to see a harder side would be Romanticide. But realistically, any song from the 2013 Wacken concert is a winner!

Here's some bonus info not many reactors get after their first reaction to this song.... Although Floor was only 10 months old with Nightwish on this performance, Ghost Love Score was always her favorite Nightwish song to sing even before she was part of the group, and it still is her favorite song to sing because it showcases a lot of her talent and versatility. Hey guys. New Nightwish Army subscriber here. Welcome to our 6'1" Valkyrie goddess, Floor Jansen (Yan-sen) and our beloved Nightwish. You have just scratched the surface of what this band does on a nightly basis. Every song is so different and epic. This was the thirteenth song in their 15 song setlist and Nightwish is still killing it until this very day. Congrats on hitting 1K subscribers but, may I say, you are also just scratching the surface of this Nightwish rabbit hole. Every Nightwish song is so different that you will find yourselves saying, over and over again, "This is my new favorite Nightwish song." I highly recommend that you read all of Gabriel Bardac's comment and follow his link at the end to Gabriel's List of amazing Nightwish live performances. NIghtwish is one of the rare bands whose live performances are even better than their studio productions. Greetings!! This was Wacken 2013. Just FYI this was the headline event for the whole show. I think the whole festival goes 3 days. Each day has a headliner. So here, Nightwish was 3rd of three!! I also found out recently that Alice Cooper had the stage before Nightwish...I hope that was correct. The singer, Floor Jansen at this time was still not officially part of the band. The Tour started in Los Angeles in January 2012. Wacken was Mid Summer 2013. Floor was asked to help finish the US part of the tour in September 2012. Her first show with the band was 1 Oct 2012 in Seattle. There is a documentary on KZbin called "Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours." I think you will really enjoy it.

Nightwish was the headliner on this saturday of Wacken 2013. Alice Cooper played just before on the lefthanded stage. On Friday was there Doro and Motörhead. Only some of the 100 band at Wacken in this year...

It's arguably one of the best concerts ever recorded, not a bad song or bad note in it. But as great as it is, nothing compares to seeing them live 🖤🤘🏽

Great reaction, Tuomas Holopainen (metal Mozart) usually creates pieces of art lyrically, melodies, tones, voices, and each song even instrumental version are gold. Congrats on the first milestone! Meatloaf was an interesting comparison, I don't think reactors used that one before, which is an accomplishment by itself. Every next Nightwish song, if you choose to continue, is completely different from the last, they don't repeat themselves because they have one of the most creative composers of this generation.

The singer Floor Jansen was at the time of this concert was still the Temp/singer .She had been with the band 10 months at this time. None of the songs she sang at this concert were writtern for her ..Right back down the hole ..😎

I'm an old guy from the USA, and I can honestly tell you that discovering Nightwish & Floor changed everything related to music. A lifetime of music---including Meatloaf---and I feel as though it was all spent waiting for Nightwish. Specifically, NW with their current singer Floor Jansen. She along with Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) are two of the most musically gifted people alive. Tuomas writes 90+% of the Nightwish music. Listen to the different layers of this music, then try to imagine creating this all from scratch. Genius. What other word is there? But it never totally reached orbit until Floor joined the band. Their combined greatness is legendary. You guys are in for a fantastic ride if you stay on this train.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! Indeed Nightwish play this song near the end of their shows. But they had so many great songs in their 25 year career, that they easily find something in the same quality or even better to play afterwards. This isn't even their best song. Only the best one to introduce them to newcomers. Nightwish is very versatile. Each song is totally different. I had the impression that you better liked the harder parts. So maybe check out their song "Romanticide" next. 😁

Well done guys. This concert features 15 songs in front of 82,000. They headlined here after Alice Cooper. Every song is amazing as this singer, Floor Jansen, only joined band 10 months before and very few had heard her with Nightwish. Follow Gabriel's suggestions. LOL

This is the 13th song of this 15 song set , so stamina is amazing , respect to the drummer also , often overlooked . Floor is simply the best female vocalist ive ever heard especially live . She is Dutch and is married to rhe Sabaton drummer .

Now you've gone and done it ! 😂. First thing to say - let yourselves be guided by " General " Gabriel - he knows what he's talking about and he'll keep you on the right track . This IS one of Nightwish's more mellow tracks - they can be MUCH heavier ( and darker ) - but also lighter , such is their versatility . BTW - thanks for NOT saying they remind you of Evanescence ( I suppose Meatloaf will do 😉 ) Enjoy the ride - it's worth it !
