I remember Juliana Hatfield's voice the first time I heard it-1990 maybe? I was awestruck at the beauty of it. She is a perfect accompaniment for this song.

Recall that Evan was the biggest GP fan when I met him in the 90’s. Well done. 👍👍

Notice that the notes he sings on “why ain’t there one lonely horn” are pretty much the notes of a bugle. Clever.

It's a nice cover, but I'm not a fan of how rushed it sounds compared to Gram's version.

Don’t agree, this is a better arrangement with a better vocal performance and even better production than the original.

@@billjim334 this version is better. I love Gram Parsons. But the original isn’t as good as the cover.

@@gthomson8065 99% of the time, originals are always superior to its covers and this is no exception

@@billjim334 obviously neither of us can 'prove' our case because aesthetic judgement is subjective. From my perspective, Gram Parsons and Evan Dando/Juliana Hatfield were both capable of brilliant stuff. Personally, I prefer this version. Partly, honestly, I think it's because $1,000 Wedding is one of Gram's weaker songs, which makes it easier to top by covering. I'm not sure if I've heard a cover of "She" or "Sin City" that is better, for example.
