This is the 4th Buick G body we've shot and the biggest power one as well. This one is making 1000 hp at the rear wheels from a single turbo 6 cylinder motor! The owner and the builder were both incredibly cool guys to hang with and I got the serious thrill ride from Jeremy!
Sit back and enjoy this one...

My car comes with the original Goodyear gator back tires with OEM wheels that are like new. the car sits on a set of newer Goodyear z rated tires 17 inch Budnik wheels made in USA

I just bought a 84 GN last year. Love the car. Sat in a guys garage for years. I it has T-tops original paper work from when it was sold #267 out of 2000. I have been bringing it back to life. Interior and body are in great condition. I have put all new scat lowers on it. Adding bigger turbo, adding intercooler and new exhaust this winter. It has been alot of fun. I worked at a Buick dealership in the 80s. I was a mustang fan. My co-workers were all talking about how fast the GN was iamd that it was faster than the mustang. I not only thought it was BS but told them so. One day an older female customer brought in a GN for a noise when accelerating. I came to an almost complete stop on the entrance ramp to the freeway. It had just started to mist just enough to dampen the road surface. Shifted into low and gunned it. I was surprised by the strong launch. When I shifted into 2 the tires broke loose. I ended up doing a donut in the middle of the freeway. I drove back to the dealership hands shaking, keeping it under 30 mph all the way. I learned to respect the Grand National and customers' vehicles.

*In my 87 GN I had the 4140 forged stroker crank kit from archie who owns gn1 dot com and the big 72MM ball bearing turbo and alot of other parts. Spent little over $10K on parts alone on that car and It was an absolute beast, turbo was spoiling out 30 lbs of boost when getting on the gas. I traded that car in 2018 for a white and gold 69 Hurst/Olds 442 with the 455 and this car is badass too but I still miss the GN and never drove a car that hooked and pulled as hard as that car.*

This car is the very stuff, Dreams are made of! I could not even imagine having this beauty parked in my garage. These babies turned heads in the 80's and break necks, literally and figuratively, today! It boggles my mind to this day, that Jay Leno doesn't have one of these, or maybe quite possibly, he does, but never talks about it, I don't know, but a huge huge thank you and love and respect to the men and women that made this machine a reality. This car still kicks ass today! God drives a Grand "Faster-Than-All," and so does Darth Vader! Maybe I'm a little too obsessed, but at least it's a healthy one, LOL! ; )

HOLY SHITTT!!! I'm not a big fan of cars from the eighties. But since its a Buick it automatically gets points with me. Amazing!!! I've always been a sports luxury kind of a guy. Now that I'm getting up in years I have a stronger need for speed. Recapturing some youth I guess. lol I wonder what they could do with a 77 Olds Tornado with a 502. Its always been kinda sluggish. But I've dreamt of a seriously quick and fast Tornado. The front wheel drive may very well be the downfall. Seriously comfortable car and fast. But it takes a little while to get to speed. lol Awesome car. Great video. The look on your face is classic man. lol. Shawn: "I graduated high school in 83." Jeremy: "Wow" ... lol Class of 78 here.

You might ask Jay Leno about his Olds Tornado. If I remember correctly, [ 2 ] engines with complete front wheel drive units transplanted. It looks like a typical Olds Tornado but it ain't!!! Jay has an occasional "Irresponsible Side" that sure is fun to watch!!

That’s a bad ass build. Grand Nationals are the coolest (and fastest) American cars from the 80’s. Still amazing all these years later that these cars actually came out if the Buick stable. As a drag racing fan I would have to say that running a car this fast (160 MPH) with those soft factory seats is pretty questionable. They are fine unless and until you crash the car. The driver would move all over the place (even with harnesses) which could result in serious injury. If they race the car (why else would you build a 1000 WHP GN?) they really should consider a proper race seat. At least got the track. We all think stuff only happens to other people when we are young.

Had the car for 14 years, purchased brand new. Learned what I know today about cars & engines because of owning this beast. I started working and added mods only 6 months after taking ownership. I sold it for more than I paid for it, but no where near what you'd get for one these days. It was my daily drive, but always kept it showroom. Never should have sold it when I did. Never should have sold it at all. Never had so much fun, or spent more time & money! Damn, these videos make me miss that car so much! Keep up the great work man..

Nice GN!. It sounds like our series 2 3800. We have been 8.81@160. Here in Aus the later v6 has gained some traction lately.

Yeah, I remember these cars when I was running the streets with my 5.0 Mustangs. Do not underestimate these cars. They are a force to be reckoned with. A friend of a friend from Charlotte Courthouse Virginia known as "Peanut butter " had one.....it was highly modified and VERY FAST!!

That is one BEAUTIFUL G.N.! I used to own a 5.0 Mustang “with a stick” & was offered a race with a bone-stock G.N. that a co-worker had - I must confess, I declined the race-invite. I regret the declination now, as I wonder what the outcome would have been... My Stang was zippy, but as they say: “discresion is the better part of valor! :€)

dude - props to this guy for running it the way he did on public streets for the show..... for US that is. nothing worse than seeing a built car and not seeing what it can do etc. I dont recommend everyone do that on the streets - however thank you.
