whatever happened to CFx company? seemed like a great company back in the day, i know i message a lot on your videos and repeat myself but at least i have the carbon fiber targa from him back then. i have so much body work to do on my 89 being it was a northern Indiana car and rust attacked the rear fender wells and gas tank area. your lucky to have a beautiful car in Canada, to this day i remember talking to him on the phone back in 05'-06' when i posted pics of magazine he was featured in back in the day (thats how i met duane), never met him in person or the car but my bucket list in life includes to meet either you or duane but most importantly the car that inspired us all! I am still a strong believer in the underdog 7M series and cant wait to get my first car back after being in the military service these last 14yrs.
@DanaAnthonyHoeft4 жыл бұрын
No worries I like talking with you guys. Don't feel like you comment too much. CFx went under for a few reasons, mostly the cost to buy quality material to manufacture products for customers. Good material (carbon and so on) was much more expensive back in the day. CFx didn't want to manufacture on par products to match the market. CFx wanted to be a step ahead in quality/ fit and finnish. It proved too expensive to offer such high quality products and rather than using a lesser quality material the company closed its doors with its integrity and values intact. A bit of a story I know but that's how it went down.

@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I keep it clean everywhere, cleaning the car is as much fun for me as driving it. The oil catch can is routed from the top of the can into the bottom of the intake pipe. Kinda hidden away but its there. Good eye, I haven't had that question yet
@Shwalker075 жыл бұрын
@@DanaAnthonyHoeft Nice. I am currently in the process of a oil catch can setup on my built 7m and I am still stuck between venting it or routing it back to the intake. I know I am going to run an10 lines to the valve covers but there is a lot of options for oil catch cans and different set-ups. Thanks again.
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would go with a vented unit but the real plus of routing it back to the intake would be less oil residue under hood. Makes it a little easier to keep clean. The plus of just having a vented can to me would be one less hose under hood to worry about hiding.

how high does it rev? stock or has the limiter been raised?
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
Rev limiter is set to a very comfortable 7500 rpm. The 89 and up 7M Supra stock limiter was just over 6200. The big GT42 is full niose by 5000 or so. Leaves the car with 2500 rpm of party time.
@MistRVertexZ5 жыл бұрын
@@DanaAnthonyHoeft i see i see, i would want some more revs from my 7m to, its fully built except for the head which has just been rebuilt, do you think i can safely jack it up to 7000-7500ish with the stock head?
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
Did you have your rotating assembly balanced when the engine was rebuilt? The stock cams really wont do you any favours past stock reline. You could increase the rev limit but what then would be the gain would be my question. Stock cams make a pile of mid range power and the 7M is a torque monster, in my opinion its like a V8 in a way. It doesn't need to rev to make silly silly amounts of power. what are your power goals, tell me about you set up?
@MistRVertexZ5 жыл бұрын
@@DanaAnthonyHoeft to be honest its more for the sound, love the sound of a high revving i6 previous owner said the bottompart was balanced, i only put the engine together power goals are 700whp, its now mapped to 667whp at 1.1bar. apparently it should be good for about 1200hp (with more supporting mods and a bigger turbo) i dont have the parts list on my computer :/
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
@@MistRVertexZ 667whp at like 17 psi is great power, takes a big turbo to make that kind of power at such low boost. A few years back with an original GT42 this car made 730 whp on 23psi on pump. You might be making more power than me lol.

Best thing you can do is ask around locally and work with the best local builder you can find. What head gasket and torque used pl.?
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
Quite some time ago it was done haha. I believe its an HKS 1.2mm MHG, The ARP studs hold it together at 100ft lbs. Just make sure when your block is shaved if your going that far that the front timing cover is on when you take it into the machine shop or it wont seal as intended.
@OU-wk9hp5 жыл бұрын
@@DanaAnthonyHoeft .. gotcha. Any idea if it's the stopper or bead? 100ft lbs is more than you normally hear. Some serious torque. Do you have any idea how many miles are on that build ?
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
It has a bead, 100 ft lbs is pretty standard. Even on my bolt on or stock-ish MK3's I put together in the past for me its been 100 ft lbs. I have always used the HKS gaskets both 1.2 and 2 mm versions and ARP studs of course. Never had a problem with a head gasket after that. Most guys recommend about 80-90 ft lbs. I can tell you the engine was built in 07 and has been driven across country in 3 days about 6000 miles, to and from California multiple times for events 1200 miles each way and its still together and healthy. Some where around 250 passes at the track and at least 200 dyno pulls... Its reliable, the key is good parts, good machine work and safe tuning. Its seen some serious millage and actually makes more power now than ever haha.
@OU-wk9hp5 жыл бұрын
@@DanaAnthonyHoeft .. understood. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I just have one more atm. Would you consider the stopper better than the bead or vise versa and why?
@DanaAnthonyHoeft5 жыл бұрын
The HKS gasket has a bead around the combustion chamber but is a stopper type gasket. Stopper and Grommet style MHG's are similar and have proven more reliable than a simple bead type. Stopper and grommet gaskets seal better.
