whatever happened to CFx company? seemed like a great company back in the day, i know i message a lot on your videos and repeat myself but at least i have the carbon fiber targa from him back then. i have so much body work to do on my 89 being it was a northern Indiana car and rust attacked the rear fender wells and gas tank area. your lucky to have a beautiful car in Canada, to this day i remember talking to him on the phone back in 05'-06' when i posted pics of magazine he was featured in back in the day (thats how i met duane), never met him in person or the car but my bucket list in life includes to meet either you or duane but most importantly the car that inspired us all! I am still a strong believer in the underdog 7M series and cant wait to get my first car back after being in the military service these last 14yrs.
@DanaAnthonyHoeft
@DanaAnthonyHoeft 4 жыл бұрын
No worries I like talking with you guys. Don't feel like you comment too much. CFx went under for a few reasons, mostly the cost to buy quality material to manufacture products for customers. Good material (carbon and so on) was much more expensive back in the day. CFx didn't want to manufacture on par products to match the market. CFx wanted to be a step ahead in quality/ fit and finnish. It proved too expensive to offer such high quality products and rather than using a lesser quality material the company closed its doors with its integrity and values intact. A bit of a story I know but that's how it went down.

Nice Supra man. I like that you keep everything down to all the small items neat and clean. Where do you have the oil catch can routed to vent?
@DanaAnthonyHoeft
@DanaAnthonyHoeft 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I keep it clean everywhere, cleaning the car is as much fun for me as driving it. The oil catch can is routed from the top of the can into the bottom of the intake pipe. Kinda hidden away but its there. Good eye, I haven't had that question yet
@Shwalker07
@Shwalker07 5 жыл бұрын
@@DanaAnthonyHoeft Nice. I am currently in the process of a oil catch can setup on my built 7m and I am still stuck between venting it or routing it back to the intake. I know I am going to run an10 lines to the valve covers but there is a lot of options for oil catch cans and different set-ups. Thanks again.
@DanaAnthonyHoeft
@DanaAnthonyHoeft 5 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would go with a vented unit but the real plus of routing it back to the intake would be less oil residue under hood. Makes it a little easier to keep clean. The plus of just having a vented can to me would be one less hose under hood to worry about hiding.

2 things, (1) Have the head gasket replaced, with a multi-layer steel unit, use ARP head studs to snug that baby up. (2) Use good oil and always keep the engine just over full. Enjoy, These cars are comfortable, heavy, overbuilt and make big power just as reliably than any JZ when taken care of. I'd buy one as soon as you can. Prices are going up. Even get a 1ggte car, save your money and swap it when you have the money set aside. Just get one and start turning wrenches.

I discovered that the crank was already was cut down to .25mm. My 7mgte does has the tubes upgraded but what happened was that the shaft that goes with the timing belt that makes the pump work was moving. I already put on a 7mge crank and all the bearings new. I don’t know how the shaft moved from the place. I could see that the shaft was worn out in a specific area and started to be loosen. Watch out that the shaft on your 7m doesn’t have any play. I knew about the factory tube that breaks, but I didn’t know about the shaft. I don’t know if this is common. Did you have your rotating assembly balanced when the engine was rebuilt? The stock cams really wont do you any favours past stock reline. You could increase the rev limit but what then would be the gain would be my question. Stock cams make a pile of mid range power and the 7M is a torque monster, in my opinion its like a V8 in a way. It has a bead, 100 ft lbs is pretty standard. Even on my bolt on or stock-ish MK3's I put together in the past for me its been 100 ft lbs. I have always used the HKS gaskets both 1.2 and 2 mm versions and ARP studs of course. Never had a problem with a head gasket after that. Most guys recommend about 80-90 ft lbs. I can tell you the engine was built in 07 and has been driven across country in 3 days about 6000 miles, to and from California multiple times for events 1200 miles each way and its still together and healthy. Some where around 250 passes at the track and at least 200 dyno pulls... Its reliable, the key is good parts, good machine work and safe tuning. The HKS gasket has a bead around the combustion chamber but is a stopper type gasket. Stopper and Grommet style MHG's are similar and have proven more reliable than a simple bead type. Stopper and grommet gaskets seal better.
