My first car 1989 supra turbo 5spd, i still own to this day. I stumbled upon it after being turned down a $2k offer i made for a 90's 240sx and was just driving home that day and there it was just sitting in a yard with a forsale sign on it. My Dad and I stopped and looked at it and i didnt know what it was at first either. when i seen the engine and the turbo i immediately fell in love for it and especially seeing the badging that read "Supra." I didn't find the Supra the Supra found me. I owned the car for the first couple years at age 16 and blew the headgasket after putting in a new CT26. The car had 144k miles on it and was tired. I ended up doing a low mileage engine swap in my garage with basic hand tools and a couple of my best friends. First thing we did was prep the new low mileage (66k km mile engine) by putting in a felpro gasket and torquing the head to 76lb with ARP's. Car ran great like that for the last couple years I had it. I graduated highschool and within a month I enlisted the Army and had orders to Germany. I could not ship the car so I sold it to my best friend who helped me with the car (he had a 88 turbo supra). He worked on the car for many years and had owned and traded numerous cars but never got rid of that car because he knew how sentimental it meant to me. Well it has been about 13 years now since I joined the Army (I am still serving) and just a few days ago I was thinking about the car and asked my buddy Chris if he wanted it still (car sits in his mom/dads garage in Michigan). He said I could have it and his mom/dad would be happy to create space in their garage. My best friend lives in Texas now due to me helping him out when i was stationed down at Ft hood, TX and I now live at Ft Jackson, SC. Plan on visiting my old car in November to fire it up and make sure its all there with the parts before i pay the shipping company to trailer it to SC. The Supra has been through a lot of modifications over the years and I am getting it back for free. My friend said it now has a bunch of fuel component upgrades, a huge 7268 turbo pushing 28psi and needs a tune but would spin the tires from 80mph to 120mph not even at full throttle due to fuel cut. Anyways thats my story!

Project WANNA Boost that would be a while due to my work and the car being several miles away from me. I have a long road ahead and plan to fully restore the car and do body work. I do have a passion to cars and they are all unique, I currently daily a 2016 MX5 Club edition BBS/Brembo package etc and love the whole handling aspect of driving but I swear I miss that torque monster turbocharged Supra.

I finally convinced this guy to allow me to buy back my dads 1987 Supra. It left our family in 2001 and I finally brought her back home. Head gaskets are blown and heads need to be reworked on the 7m. I was considering a swap to a 1j or 2j but I want to keep her original. I CANNOT WAIT to have her running again. The sentimental value along with how beautiful this car is just amazes me. My first performance car was an '89 Supra Turbo in ~2001. Most people had no idea what it was. I remember hearing Prelude, Corvette, Camaro and "Is that a new car?". The body and paint were mint.

7M's are the BEST sounding straight sixes out there. The 2JZ may be fast af but they don't sound as great.

I agree with this, the JZs have a decent sound (more of a cooler turbo noise than anything else) but I went from a 7M to a 1JZ, and while the 1JZ is a better engine and more fun to drive, the 7M sounded way cooler when accelerating hard through a tunnel, much deeper bass and tougher sounding exhaust note, and that was with the same pipes that were slightly modded to fit the 1JZ swap.

Supra nice video bro! Out of all I've seen this was the most well explained and very informative. I've got a half Korch Mk3 sitting in the garage for drifting/fun driving. With basic upgrades got to about 360HP, could add more but didn't want just like you. Running 380cc injectors, they are dragging me down.

When my stock 7m takes a shit on me making 366hp and 365tq at 12psi.... usually I run at 18psi I want to rebuilt it and do things right and shoot for a reliable 5-550hp 7m. I think that would be the sweet spot for a street driven mk3. You still get around the traction issues at that power level, have great driveability and a fast spooling turbo. 1-3ed is a blast in my car but 3ed-5th just feels slow

@@bobbygenius sound preformance makes or atleast used to make a very nice manifold. then slap on any turbo that meets your power goals and downpipe. driftmotion offers a decent bolt on intercooler or you can piece together your own for a good price. stock Tb and intake is good for 800+ so it's fine unless you want the look of a ffim. the biggest thing is your engine management. get good tune and ditch the stock cps and get a crank trigger kit.

Nic I’m turn ping a 7MGE to become a GTE, the oil pump input shaft it is a pretty primitive affair drip fed intermittently some oil. Any suggestions I’ve seen a needle bearing thrust bearing (technician racing) what has been your solution? Thanks Andrew

Hoping to trade my sc for one of these. I've always wanted some rarity of a car. At least in my area. Sr powered 240sx to a NA 2j powered (stock) sc300. Stock 2j fuckin pulls nice. Sr was stock so it was really torque I was playing with. Pretty sure the lexus has a open diff so I haven't tried drifting. I'd love to own an mk3. As it will bring visual memories of my beloved s13, however, serve as a huge gorgeous upgrade.

conserve the motor on 500hp? stock bottom end 7m's will make 500 HP easy and reliably. now a solid built one should be good for 7-800. more aggressive build and it would doin 1000+.

You really can't do this. If you want a turbo you gotta swap in a 7MGTE or better yet 1JZ. Prices are absolutely insane for both right now.

Santiago M here they sell a turbo targa for 3k euros.. It got the 235ps engine and 200k kilometres on it and looks pretty nice... Sadly i am close to 16 years, so I'd need to wait 2 years till i could drive it.. And the tax makes it unpayable.. 453€ per year and when the car is 30 years old, its only 191€.. Then I'm 19 and could drive it..
