You have some really great shots here of these beautiful steam locos. You have really captured the sound well too. All in all, well put together.

Thank you ! This trip was a bit of a rush and the weather was lousy, but the rain held off for most of the time , so it turned out ok.It was a rare chance to see double headed steam in the suburbs! Thanks for watching, cheers Gregg

Thanks David! They are nice locos', the second one , AC16 is a Mikado brought over from the US for the war, the drivers here called them "Yanks" and were a popular loco. Cheers Gregg

Nicely filmed Gregg, and aren't those carriages beautifully restored? Must admit don't fancy the fireman's job in your Queensland humidity. I have heard a rumour that BNSF are planning a railfan trip through the Birdwood sub using Santa Fe 3751, it would be nice if you could make that happen!
@FishplateFilms9 жыл бұрын
Thank you! They have done a terrific job on the carriages, and the locos too! I can only imagine how tough ti was in summer, especially up north! I'm getting over the humidity, time to move south I reckon?? If someone could get 3751 to the Sub', it would definitely be a goer..LOL You never know, I may get to see it myself soon?? Cheers Gregg

If you sold one of those smelly diesels, you would be well on your way to the purchase price! Imagine one the BLI or MTH versions with synchronised smoke puffs and sound, exhaust beats reverberating around the walls of "the cake tin"...
@FishplateFilms9 жыл бұрын
struck2soon LOL ...that may be true. Steam power has visited the Sub' , a pair of MTH Mikado's with some very nice coaches! But traction tires and slightly slick track (from the Innox spray) are not a good match and they couldn't even pull themselves up the Helix!! But they did sound nice in the "cake tin" !!

Hey Maree, how about taking that loco for a spin on the Birdwood Sub and putting a clip of it on youtube?
@struck2soon9 жыл бұрын
Get that from Maree Hobbs, Gregg? You could have a "guest loco" on the sub!
@FishplateFilms9 жыл бұрын
Well, could be, don't know if Maree was hinting or nor not..LOL. That's up to her, but the invite is there Maree! Cheers Gregg

great vid Gregg.. i have a question.. what are the tank cars behind the locos?? water??? also was he pulling a grade at the "Swanbank" it seems they slowed down there... ANY HOW.. thanks for sharing... vinny
@FishplateFilms9 жыл бұрын
Thanks very Much Vinny! You're correct, they are "tenders" so they don't have to stop for water...no water tanks left..LOL Also they use treated water to prolong the life of the boilers. The grade on the branch is a bit steep, forget the rate and they slowed down for the road crossing, no gates and not many trains use it!. Thanks for watching mate. Gregg.
