+Sad Teenager I traveled alone to Europe when I was 18. It's kind of intense but you've just got to decide to take a chance, take a risk and do what you really want to do with your life. I would suggest getting a guidebook for a part of the world where you want to go (like a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide for Europe, for example) and read about it because you will learn a lot of the practical information that way. But yeah, you've gotta have some money saved up.

Raya, I'm from Macedonia and I've very much heard of Bulgaria. I go skiing there every winter. I totally feel you about that part tho. Rarely anyone from Europe knows our contries, little alone anyone from America.

I'm pretty sure that most people in America and Europe have heard of Bulgaria and Macedonia. I think Raya meant that the other young children in her elementary school class hadn't heard of it.

I live in UK and I know Bulgaria. I went to uni and met a few Bulgarians there. This is a generalisation but some Americans have no understanding of the world outside of the USA with very poor world geography. Obviously not all of them though.
