Yay! Your on your way to my city! New Zealand is amazing, I'm guessing you will be heading out of the city pretty quick to explore the nature but there are some lovely spots like devenport and waiheke Island and silo park that are in and around the city that are beautiful! Also the weather looks like it is getting a bit more sunny so that's good news :)
