That wire is a CAN bus. Each battery has a S/N and when they are in a big system ie 500v they will have a CAN sequence number, often also on a sticker. Use Valence Model Diagnostic S/W or Easy Sync CAN-USB. That's how a complex system keeps track of each batteries' SOC and health. That cable has 5 wires: p1 Shield Yellow p2 Gnd Brown p3 Data + Blue p4 Data - Black p5 5v Vcc Red

Caution: I might be wrong, but I believe the 12V version sold here is the XP series and does NOT have a BMS. The 24V version is the RT series which does have a built-in BMS.

Nice but I can buy a 12 volt 100 Ah Lifep04 battery NEW with a warranty for $250.00 So 2 of these 12 Volt 40 Ah is $300.00 and only 80 Ah
