... Too fun ,, the right tool for the job ... automated deer stand .... Wow,, that water looks so awesome and inviting ... .. the go-pro .shots from Brandons treetops height looking down brought back some bad memories .... I had a cliff drop of about 75 ft in younger years ... probably why I now have a little twitch ..... ..Bummer on the drone crash ... ..... Stay Safe and God Bless .....

Very interesting, nice to see the great outdoors from that height. I had two 70 foot trees in front of my house and the city disturbed the roots and said that they would take them down for free. They reconstructed the road and tore it up and then replaced the road. I brought a guy in and he milled them for me, right in front of my house. So, I can relate. Great new show. I am looking forward to more videos. 👏👏

I've been following Careena for years but this is a nice change, I cut at a buddies every Saturday we have 170 ash trees cut down and pulled out of the bush, ready to buck and split for next winter so this channel has its appeal for me as well as the bushcraft stuff. BTW I use the same buddy's bush to camp in now since we can't go anywhere else on southern Ontario. I'm not a Husky guy but that's like the Chevy Ford thing lol. Only use Stihl. You should try a Stihl top handle, you'll never go back. Anyway love the vids guys, hope it grows as fast as the other one. You guys make a great team.
@TimberMates3 жыл бұрын
Lol Glad you're enjoying the channel, Thanks Scott! Brandon loves his Husqy Top handle, and STIHL is very un-accessible where we live, if something breaks down or we need a part it would be a long, annoying process. We live in a pretty small remote town and there's a Husky retailer not too far so its just easy, which is the main reason we go Husqy. Thanks for watching man! Glad you have somewhere to escape and go camping!

I only know the basics of tree felling, but was wondering if you ever use tethers for the saws so if something happens and you are caught by your body harness but drop your saw you can retain the equipment instead of it crashing to the ground when you are so high up.
@TimberMates3 жыл бұрын
Great question, it's a lot of ropes and things to get snagged on in the basket already so I prefer not to use one unless I'm climbing. Sometimes I tie off my pole saw, really just depends on the situation.

Why no speedlining? This seemed like the perfect place for it. If you go up in the lift then rappel to the ground, how do you get the lift back down? Is there another console at the base?
@TimberMates3 жыл бұрын
Didn’t really need to, it was only 2 or 3 branches that needed lowering. Didn’t bring the rigging for it either. And yes there are controls for the lift at the bottom too. Brandon taught me how to get the booms down in case something happens and he can’t control from the basket

Looks like it went pretty smooth for a difficult job as long as the chipper cooperates during part 2, lol. Brandon, do you ever have to climb trees with foot spikes, and harness to the tree to limb them if they are too tall for your lift? That broken drone reminds me of my childhood. Everything I ever tried to fly always ended up smashed to pieces.
@TimberMates3 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks for watching. Brandon hasn’t had to climb anything in years, its very rare he would need to since he can pretty much always just top a tree that is taller than the lift. But he has all the equipment and has done it before :)

I have done a lot of work out of a JLG basket but never cutting trees. Have used 210' booms mounted on 4 wheel drive frame that extend out to increase the wheel width for stability. You are using a trailer mounted basket which is not nearly as stable. Lot's of movement in the basket. It will scare the hell out of anyone.

@andrewdolan65022 жыл бұрын
Hey you guys should consider getting some formal training! You are getting the job done but there are incredibly safer and more efficient ways to do tree work. Arboriculture Canada offers courses a couple of times a year in Ontario on basic rigging and other stuff- probably worth looking into for you guys. I'm not trying to bash you guys-youtube comment sections can get bad! I'm just trying to help out. Snatching that top like that is bad news. Assuming that tree was actually 100' tall and your lift is 72', setup 10-15' away from the tree itself probably only actually reaching 65ish feet of the tree so you would have taken a 35'ish top. A 35' top shouldn't be locked off - the force generated would have exceeded the working load limit of the strap- it doesn't have to break to exceed the limits of the strap, but if you continue to do stuff like this the strap will break ( like I said earlier with the getting hurt/ property damage) or the tree will fail. Buy the proper equipment to do the work- don't use tow straps and snaps from a hardware store. There are a few retailers in Ontario that carry all of the ropes and rigging gear you could ever need. (Maple leaf ropes, the arborist store, shepherds forestry supply- ask for Kurt) I know how easy it is for something to go wrong in tree work ( I've been climbing and running a bucket truck for 15 years) but not having the proper knowledge and training is setting you up for an accident. Sorry for sounding like a dick-trying to prevent an accident. If you ever need a contract climber send me a message.

I'd love to be able to do that job, but I really really don't do height. :$

You said in an earlier video the weight limit was 500lbs.. would be nice to see some rope work, srt and rigging, or atleast spikes if you're removing the trees. Nice videos anyways
@TimberMates3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's almost never worth it to spike/climb. It takes way more time, it's more dangerous and less practical than using the lift. However, that being said, sometimes it's necessary. Perhaps one day we'll get a job. that requires climbing, but in the mean time, I want to learn, so Brandons going to give me a climbing lesson at some point and we'll make a video about it :)
@Rezorcful3 жыл бұрын
@@TimberMates I understand your investment in a lift only pays off if you use it every chance you get to do as many jobs a day as you can. But climbing is more interesting I'm a tree guy also, some fancy rigging and seeing her working a portawrap or grcs
@TimberMates3 жыл бұрын
@@Rezorcful I agree, it's more interesting. But that's about it lol Lift is far more practical and worth its weight in gold saving ALLL kinds of time. A climber would take two days to do a monster tree we could take down easily in a few hours. I know this because our friend in town here climbs, took him 3 days to do a job we could have done in an afternoon. It's not worth our time to climb
