The sadder thing is that even though the project is dead in the water, its highly unlikely they'd ever let that old KOTOR 1 remake fan project be revived after using legal force to get it shut down, so in a way they've deprived us of two chances of a KOTOR remake, not just one. And frankly speaking I'd have much preferred the fan remake over the official one since the official one sounds like it'd be quite unfaithful to the original. .... anyway, thanks for being honest Mr 100%. This is nothing but a WIN/WIN situation. The original game is still intact and demands to be played even now. Yeah, when they hired writers like Sam Maggs and talked about changing the combat in the re-make, I became very nervous. Thankfully, KOTOR can now remain untouched by "modern gaming." A graphical update would be nice, but nothing else.

I've played KOTOR and KOTOR II (My personal favorite since Kreia is basically my mental mentor) for probably over a hundred times in total and with thousands of hours just on the OG xbox. This news is.. strangely heartbreaking and somewhat comforting if true. Given the horrible state of play for remakes, remasters and especially for those of high esteem.. for this to be shelved for the time being and if they should ever pick this back up then it should set the premise AND idea for it to be made correctly from the start.

Jeff Grubb has been right about a lot of things in the past. He has a lot of valid sources when it comes to things. Does it mean he's right here? Of course not. If he has an insider at Embracer, that doesn't mean that person is correct either. It just means HE'S being fed incorrect information as well. We'll just wait and see. Or we won't see anything and the game will never come out. I think the project is too big to let it go quietly though. I think there would be an actual announcement if it was truly OFFICIALLY cancelled.

I do wonder if “paused indefinitely” might be a thing with this. Theres clearly licensing issues with sony having to remove their announcement trailer. Called it from the moment they said Aspyr was making it, and then again when Embracer handed it off to a B-list studio. Aspyr does not make games. Aspyr makes PORTS. They did not have the expertise or the experience to do something like this.

Here is my perspective on this.... The interim report may still list the project if they have a couple producers working on planning/negotiations related to the project. It is entirely possible (and perhaps even likely) that the report from Jeff Grubb is accurate, but that Embracer may turn around and assign it to some new studio at some point in the future (hence leaving it on the interim report). Jeff has very well established contacts internally at basically all the publishers...

Yeah I wondered that myself. I mean it seems like they might be waiting for a studio to get freed up and take things over. Saber right now is handeling Space Marine 2 which seems to be one of their only tangible games that has real guarantees behind it of being released as a proper AAA game. This game is dead unless Disney makes their own studio. Disney is currently HEMMORAGING money and facing a possible hostile takeover by Nelson Peltz. Welcome to reality. Disney is about to lose 200-300 million on The Marvels post marketing/theatre cut and and that doesn't include money they steal from ESPN/ABC to market their own product, when they could market someone elses.

I remember playing this game when I was a teen. I hadn't a clue how DND mechanics work, so I couldn't 'Play' the game. I'm at that age now (where I say things like I'm at that age now! 😆), I have been able to play KOTOR 1 and 2, with a grasp of the mechanics and enjoy the story telling. I will say 100% Star Wars, know that I trust you and that the scrutiny you are facing is not deserved. It's easy to believe the doom and gloom. Communities are built around not only getting used to it, but celebrating it (how many hundreds, *thousands* consider the original an untouched treasure to cherish and still regurgitate past writers just to justify this needing to be cancelled?) Hope is harder to believe in. In times like these, you'll see that hope squashed with a mere turn of phrase from the right person. All it'd take is Embracer or Sony saying something to squash it for good. But I don't think there's anything wrong with hoping for something you want to happen when things are in the dark. Sometimes a little shred of optimism in our day to day is better than a shred of cynicism. And at the end of the day, if that hope does get squashed, at least you'll know there was a community of people that hoped with you to the end. That ain't so bad to me.

Just because someone leaks something doesn’t mean it’s 100% accurate. It’s not uncommon for people who get laid off, quit or are disgruntled in some way to “leak” stuff that’s not true in an attempt to hurt a company. We don’t know the situation behind the leak, so my advice to anyone would just be to go on with their day and assume the game is still in development until the company itself says otherwise. We all have to remember journalist make money off interactions. How many people would read an article about a companies fiscal quarter? Now how many would read one with a bombastic title like “Beloved game reboot has been brought behind the shed and put down like Ol’ Yeller”

it is still in development i think, they just don`t say for shure what happen. because the ip is too big too say anything for shure, so it is possible that it is still in development. they just don`t say it, because it is too big too say anything like the dirctor said in his interview. better say nothing and let people think what they want, so the surprise would be bigger when it will be anounced. and building up hype for it, is too early, because it will take time too develop it. better turn down the hype than let it building up with no control over it. thank you for your video about it, people are just asuming wrong things, they can say what they want but still people pick peaces out of it and asume wrong things. thats the world we are living in now, picky people all around, they don`t understand what you say and just asume stuff that is never been said. sad times actualy.

Do you guys want a KOTOR remake that is a third person action game that is missing all the amazing RPG mechanics that the old games had? I rather have no game that a souless and horrible KOTOR remake. I guess we will never know until assets are leaked to Unseen64 in a couple of years.

I honestly don’t want to see it come out as I am afraid that the sjw’s will just ruin it which as a matter of fact has one as a writer, Sam Maggs who actively hates the fandom, men, and dislikes Star Wars but she supposedly quit part way through it but I still don’t want to risk it as more a days, studios promotes 1 thing but then delivers another and it very self righteous and is essentially a different game just with a label that people are familiar with and love. If it keeps the core of it and adds a bit of lore and Detail then I would love to play it.

I’m honestly fine with no remake of KOTOR. I feel like whoever is behind the project wouldn’t be faithful to the original. Here’s a good example. Quite recently the new Super Mario RPG Legends of the Seven Stars game just came out on the Nintendo Switch and has been completely remastered even with new features that work with the game. It adds to the experience to its original from 1996 without taking anything away that made it so much fun and good. It is my favorite game of all time and I’m very impressed with what they done. And KOTOR is my favorite Star Wars game and Revan has been my favorite Star Wars character along with HK-47, canderous, Bastila, mission, zaalbar, Carth, T3-M4, Jolee Bindo, and juhani. I remember my older brother giving me that game on the PC apart of the sibling exchange gift for Christmas back in 2003 and together we played it non.stop. So I have an emotional attachment to this game clearly as I do with Mario RPG. So If they don’t give it the same treatment as another company did with their game. I wouldn’t be at all interested. They shouldn’t even bother wasting their time and resources or ours. Especially since it already had a rough “start” so I’m glad the game is scrapped. And no you don’t deserve any fire. You make great content and been subscribed to you for a while now. Thank you.

I'm glad it's dead. They have 100% of the instructions to make the damn thing and yet they get that dumbass writer and probably so many other dumb things to mess it all up when they just need to make a pretty game according to the instructions they already have. I'm glad it's dead so we don't get a giant pile of crap instead. Sorry you're catching flak for it all man, but that's part of the game when you're a big voice in the community.
