Jedi Council when Revan enters the council chambers "Is this room echo-ey or is it just me?"
@Cailus35428 ай бұрын
For me, it's simple: the Jedi Masters were terrified. The Order, down to barely a hundred Jedi, was weaker than it had ever been. The decision to laud Revan and fully bring him back into the Order was a desperate attempt to control him. The Council knew that if another crisis occurred, they would need Revan's power and genius to survive. At worst, it appeased Revan and Bastila so that they'd toe the party line and not rebel. Revan, of course, knew all this, but he had no interest in reforming the Order or getting involved in their politics. He knew that he was the wrong man for that. More, remember what happened after Revan was captured. The Council had the power to heal his mind. Instead, they violated his mind and imprinted him with a new identity, loyal to them. Revan was sureiy a bit peeved after that. All of that rambling is to say that Revan and Bastila likely knew that the Order was doomed. There was no fixing it. This is why Atris had no knowledge of Bastila's hiding place, or Jolee, Juhani and Yuthura. They all refused to return to the Order, especially after Katarr. Bastila only popped out of hiding to use her Battle Meditation when the Sith fleet attacked Telos. Even then, she avoided meeting the Exile.

It was more fear than anything else. Revan failed to destroy the Jedi in war, but he might do so with philosophy. That is how the first Jedi civil war began, leading to the formation of the Sith.
@alexanderrahl70348 ай бұрын
I think it _was_ fear, but not like that. I think it was fear that only certain people would be able to handle being in love and controlling their passions. That preaching that it was possible to do, would just encourage many jedi, especially young ones, to try and likely fail. Which would lead to more sith. Nor so much that they fear for their order or power, some might have, but that they fear for the repercussions of teaching something with such a high likelihood of catastrophic failure.

On one hand, a fully redeemed Revan would have more pity than arrogance in response when meeting them, more sad that they didn't understand what he had believed before it was too late, than smugness over his being right. On the other hand, Revan programmed a droid to constantly refer to organic beings as "meatbags" just to piss off his apprentice. He totally would do that.

Monsters are humans created by humans and they used Revan like a monster to fight another one. The Order wiped his mind to keep him under control and likely keep their hands clean. In the end it didn't work, Revan was more than a traitor they believed him to be. Kriea herself later suggested that Revan choose to be a 'monster' to fight a greater threat that the Jedi failed to recognize/acknowledge. Did the Ancient Sith know about the Star Forge? I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Ajunta Pall alludes quite heavily to the treasure of the Ancient Sith from his era to be the Star Forge, but I have yet to see this referenced anywhere else. I don't believe anyone other than the Rakatta, Revan, and Malak had anything to do with the Star Forge, or even had any knowledge whatsoever about its existence, and yet Pall seems to state otherwise and the Star Map is located within Naga Sadow's tomb, which couldn't have been a coincidence. Continuity error? Plot thread left unresolved?

I can definitely do some digging... but I think it's as you say, a plot thread unresolved or a continuity error.
@Lorekeeper728 ай бұрын
Doylist thinking says that its just an error or something unresolved. Watsonian however, it could be that Ajunta Pall was aware of the Star Forge or some other Rakatan technology but never figured out where any of it was. This makes sense given that the Sith species on Korriban had previously chased the Rakatans offworld and probably had some records of them to say nothing of partial map of the Star Forge. Pall was also a lot closer to the Infinite Empire Era than Revan was and predates the destruction of Ossus so maybe he had read an ancient record that spoke of them and/or the Force Wars.

I used to think the Darkside would be the better ending to choose. But ironically enough, making a gameplay composed with half of the game's Darkside options actually made choosing the Lightside ending feel far more rewarding. I felt like I was creating the proto-Separatist movement, leaving behind both the Jedi and the Sith. I was filled with pride. Still, in the second game, I'm gonna say I was a Darksider, because I think half the choices I made would make lots of people distrustful of me, twisting my story a little. That, and I think my Revan is more prone to let his old persona out, even after leaving the Sith behind, so I imagine I had more company when going to the Unknown Regions. Thank you One for giving me your army. Me and my companions will use it well.
@General_Kenobi_2126 ай бұрын
One thing I love to do is play mostly lightside but pick the darkside ending. It shows Revan always made his own choices, and that he didn't really "fall," just like Kreia said. He wasn't a psychopath like most Sith. He didn't get off on mindless cruelty. He picked the Sith because he knew tactically that the galaxy would be better off with someone like him running it, and with the vast armadas of the Star Forge protecting it. Plus he obviously would have been feeling betrayed by the Jedi anyways since finding out what they did to his mind. For all he knew when Malak was gone they could have easily been planning to turn on him and Bastila as well, with that "for the greater good" excuse....

Hmm, thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. As for ideas on new KotOR vids, I always found the background and lore of the Old Republic time period fascinating. Reminds me a bit of the Mandalorian tv series time period. The big bad enemies are crushed, but things are still in flux. The Power vacuum has yet to be filled. I also want a more satisfying resolution to Revan and the Exile's tales. The small crumbs of Kreia's deathbed predictions are a start, but there are so many possibilities to explore. The novels and SWtoR games didn't resolve the tales to my satisfaction. So if you really want to grab my attention, perhaps speculation on these areas will prove fruitful.

Their teachings have resulted in absolute arrogance, and this has also become their undoing. That is why in the end the Sith always had the upper hand, for the Jedi never see beyond themselves. To answer your question about topic for a new video: I would REALLY like to see theory video about what do you think happened to Jolee Bindo. Why do you think he did not stay with the Jedi? Or why did not he help the Exile fight Nihilus? Do you think he died on Katarr?
@Cailus35428 ай бұрын
A point: so long as the Jedi stayed true to their beliefs, they would always (inevitably) prevail. It's only when they wavered that problems arose. As for Jolee? I suspect that Bastila was very wary of the Jedi Masters. They had lost their way. After the initial assassinations by the Sith, or after Katar, I suspect that she ushered her friends and allies to go into hiding. They might even have stayed with the younglings, to protect and teach them. This might've been at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant or a hideout. Either way, none of the Jedi Masters knew that Bastila was alive, likely a deliberate choice by her. I see no reason why the others wouldn't survive too. These Jedi, along with the Exile and her companions, would form the foundation of the new Jedi Order.

Much like the Dwarves of Orzammar in Dragon Age, the Jedi Council was too set in their ways to realize that their archaic, stagnant nature was leading them to their downfall. Neither the Dwarves nor the Jedi Council were willing to see that things had to change or they were not going to survive. The Dwarves failed their people because they were suppressing the poor and not giving them the opportunity to better themselves, and restricting access and trade with the surface was only making problems worse. The Jedi Council failed so many Jedi because they kept preaching about suppressing emotions instead of finding healthy ways to work through them. The Jedi Council was also jealous and cautious of those who were extremely powerful and talented, meaning those who were not easily controlled.

What ever happened to following the Jedi Code? Jedi aren't suppose to hate because that's one of the negative emotions that leads to the dark side.

Revan proved the council wrong, and was willing to take action to defend the republic from the mandalorians, as were the Jedi exile and those who followed him. The council probably resented that he disobeyed them and made them look foolish

A cool topic I'd like to see would be how the Jedi Exile formed the Jedi Order from Revans teachings. As briefly mentioned towards the end of this Video. That would be an interesting continuation topic to go off from! Also great video, been looking forward to another one of these types of videos on the channel now. Going back to when I first Subbed to your channel. Thank you for your videos!
@Cailus35428 ай бұрын
I don't think that the Exile would've used Revan's teachings, for a variety of reasons. They were friends for a time, yes, but that was before Malachor V. More likely, the Exile used her own experience and wisdom to rebuild the Order, with a dab of Kreia here and there. Bastila certainly contributed too.

Amazing video as always! Love that you're working to keep this area of star wars lore alive and well! As for video ideas the psychology behind these games has always been super fascinating. TSL has been deconstructed so many times but I think the commentary on the Jedi order in the first game is often overlooked. Like, they erased your identity. Did they have any right to? Then for them to condemn you after everything you did for them is crazy.

Yes. Because the Jedi couldn't impose authority. When Revan went to war, they just disconnected completely. They did not even try to interfere, come up with diplomatic missions as the Mandalorians got weaker. They just let Revan do his thing, judging him later. They are weak and pompuous. No better than the greedy and short sighted Sith.

What I always find is the Jedi never learn from their mistakes, emotions aren't bad they are taught to become droids in not feeling anything and this weakens them they lose sight of things. Only Luke's Jedi changed for better until Disney destroyed that.

Jacen solo should have been the modern Revan. Jaina could have saved him. But that series was bad luke was like Jacen is too evil he killed my wife I can't go after him as that would lead me to the dark side but let's send his twin sister who is very force connected with him and have her kill him perfect plan. Lets not forget that vader was redeemable even after all the things he did but jacens to far gone. It was a bad story that could have been done differently or skipped entirely it had good points in it but it was basically a modern original trilligy remake. But the series after that could have been led into a modern SWTOR MMO (Star Wars The New Republic SWTNR or somthing like that😅) the Sith empire essentially was back and had their own forces and were building them even bigger. They could have made them rival Lukes jedi order and the New Republic by the time the game took place and then the player could pick sides and meet the old characters it would have been awesome. But alas it twas not to be😢.

What if revan was reicaranted into anakins era with or without his past memories intact. How would he handle things clone wars and the galactic empire era? Would he be able save anakin from falling or if not how would he able to take on the galactic empire?
@sisigs48205 ай бұрын
I think only the more Veteran Jedi looked down on Revan because he reminded them of Exar Kun and how he and countless jedi who followed him turned to the dark side, and the countless jedi that were slaughtered in the Great Sith Wars, many of the jedi on the council during the time of Revan had lived through all that. So when they looked at Revan they saw a potential repeat of all that and wanted to avoid it, but unlike Exar Kun, Revan wanted to help people while Exar Kun was only out for himself. The new generation of jedi however that had followed Revan into the Mandalorian wars looked up to Revan.

What I find funny is the jedi always talk about meditating and knowledge. You know, being the best you can be and all that. But they've never been able to look inward and reflect on themselves. Centuries of the same dogmatic ways and then wonder why everything goes wrong.

It's actually a core tenet of Jedi philosophy, as explained by Anakin in ROTS. They look outward, transcending the self. That's fine for many Jedi (Qui-Gon, Obi-wan, etc.), but not all. It's why Jedi philosophy isn't wrong, exactly, merely incomplete. Hilariously, Sidious knows this to some degree.

Can you please make a video explaining the source of the Sith Triumvirate? Like where the 3 Sith were during KOTOR 1 and how they emerged afterwards. We’re they part of Malak’s army? How did they destroy the Jedi so effectively while Malak before them couldn’t? I have so many questions regarding the gap between the two games the even the Revan book doesn’t answer for me.

Truth be told, post "KOTOR 1" Revan was kinda short sighted, which is why he failed in multiple ways in his goals after the first game. That's why I prefer my version of Revan, the one who chose Lightside after a gameplay filled with Darkside choices. He's kinda Count Dooku, before Count Dooku was born. He has more of his old persona's traits, but he doesn't serve the Sith. He may have created a somewhat Separatist movement, but he isn't trying to go to war. He, his Rakata and the supporters are kinda their own thing.

I think the reasons the Jedi hated Revan was because of the things he did during the Mandalorian Wars, falling to the dark side and becoming a Sith lord that caused the Jedi Civil War and his relationship with Bastila Shan Don't forget Star Wars fans that tomorrow is the season finally of the Bad Batch!!!!! I seriously hope we don't lose Hunter, Wrecker and Echo. Will Ventress return to train Omega in the ways of the force?
