The guy who could uncuff himself were old handcuffs used in the 19th century. He had the ability to dislocate his wrists and could easily free himself from themf. However, although modern handcuffs can loosen as time goes by to avoid blood from circulation, they are much harder to get out off, unless you choose to literally break your wrist or use a key or other methods, your arms are staying put.
