I’ve been vegetarian since I was 10 years old. I grew up with a lot of family who were also vegetarian and I knew a lot about animal cruelty from a young age. I’ve never liked dairy products and I rarely consume dairy products. My dad is also allergic to eggs so we never have any in the house. I actually eat plant based most of the time, but I’m not fully vegan because I do occasionally eat dairy or eggs if someone cooks for me and gives it to me. Now I’m 14 and I’ve been watching these types of documentaries recently. It’s really making me want to go fully vegan.

I grew up like that, too. My brothers went full blue pill and doesn't want to know anything about animal suffering. They want to be "normal", even it it kills others, apperantly. I used to accept non-vegan food because I didn't want to cause discomfort to people and I wanted to be polite and easy-going, but then I realized that if I want to really contribute to save animals by making veganism more and more normal, I can't keep on letting people live in their comfortable lie. Going out of my way to passively reinforce their "this is ok"-attitude. I loved milk and cheese, but I've learned to cook a little and would rather have that than cheese and milk. After two weeks of drinking oat-milk I tasted cows milk again at my parents house and didn't even like it anymore. Habits can change fast :)

Be consistent with your beliefs! If you eat animals or dairy or eggs you’re paying for animal abuse and sexual exploitation. It’s simple as that. I do NOT want to pay for that

It is true. Once I educated myself from many many reliable sources of information, I knew I had to go vegan to be an ethical person. Like most vegans, unless raised vegan from birth, I now wish I had done it sooner. As a bonus, I feel more energy (like others who have switched) and less aches and pains from inflammation. I can work out as hard as I want and don't get sore muscles like I used to. Vegans have lower rates of many chronic diseases too.

oh my gosh this is so good. Ive been playing around with being vegetarian and vegan for less the six months now. I want to make the plunge and just do it, for now I just eat meat mostly on the weekends, and do my best to be vegetarian monday-friday. I hope to go vegan one day, my mind still goes back and forth about all my favorite foods I would be giving up. But I know the more I practice being vegetarian the stronger Ill be.

Glad you found this encouraging. These days, there are more and more vegan options at the grocery store and at restaurants, plus vegan "meat" options at chains like Carl's Jr and Del Taco. Both the Beyond Meat and the Impossible Burger are pretty good. That makes eating plant based much easier than it was 20 yrs ago. Good luck to you.

I want to rescue horses. I decided, theres no difference between a horse and cow. They both end up at the auctions I'll be rescuing from. I'll rescue cows too! Wait a second... so, I eat cows. I eat all of these animals, and if theres no difference between a dog and a horse, a horse and a cow, theres no difference between a cow and a chicken! If I'm to rescue, it wont be right to rescue one and kill the other, that doesnt make sense. So i looked into it, and found out why vegans are vegan, and what their diet is. Omg, I just figured it out. Gotta be vegan.

@Basic mandalorian Yes, they do have differences. Some look a certain way, speak a certain way, look a certain way, live a certain way, etc. But what difference makes it morally right to treat one different than the other? To kill one and help out and care for another? When it comes to moral values, I see absolutely no difference. They're the same when it comes to the want to live and thrive, and the ability to feel pain and to suffer.

I've thought about the same thing. But are we meant to eat cooked anything? Think about it. I also don't know what it is, but some horses I know (herbivores) absolutely love chicken and hamburgers. It's a rare treat that they only get a little of though. I also have a fish (carnivore) who goes crazy over "algae wafers" which are meant for herbivore fish. Where are our instincts to kill animals if it's what we're meant to be doing? The closest to that I can think of is children catching and carrying toads, or chasing the geese to watch them fly away, not to catch them. It's interesting to think about.

Because plant based things have been used to make it more tasty. Rarely is meat eaten without some kind of oil, spices, or major processing. Plus, the way we process meat for it to be consumed (especially in first world countries) can make it contribute to diseases.

B12 can be easily taken as a supplement. Many foods are already fortified with B12 and other vitamins. Also, some vegans don't need to supplement, but their bodies retain B12 very well. At the same time, MANY carnivores are still deficient in B12. Have you had your blood work done?

One question I have is why are the baby boy chicks killed instead of being raised for their flesh? It seems economically a poor choice since they are destroying half of the hatchlings. I became vegan for my health but both animal rights and the environmental issues have helped keep me focused. If anyone knows the answer, please let us know.
@robsengahay5614
@robsengahay5614 2 жыл бұрын
It is because we have genetically engineered one type of chicken to put on weight super fast and another to produce a ridiculous number of eggs. Both are totally unnatural and really bad for the animals but the egg layers don’t produce the meat that the consumer demands at the profit rate that the producer requires. So they are a waste product just as male dairy cows are a waste product. The dairy and egg industries are unbelievably cruel.
