As a natural horsemanship trainer, we believe that natural is best; however, there are not always times where this is possible. Indeed, if you live in a city and there is limited to no pasture for your horse on which to graze, surely you can't beat yourself up for what access you don't have. So, Anna has looked into a couple of items that function as the "next best thing" to natural grazing during which your horse can forage, bite, tear, and experience the natural feeding position that our Creator deemed best for them. Hay Balls are great if you have a horse who is stall bound or in rehabilitation, in addition to horses who get bored easily and those who eat too quickly, running out of food for long periods. This hay ball gives them hours of sustained feeding time and interaction with a toy that is designed with their safety in mind. Horses, by design, produce approximately 16 gallons of digestive stomach acid in a day. When we feed them out of a pile of hay rather than slow feeding throughout the day, the acid has less food to constantly buffer it. Giving them a slow feeder that allows them to trickle feed or one that imitates foraging will help to curtail the excess acid in their stomach, thereby helping to prevent ulcers. The hexagonal pattern will also stop your ball from rolling away completely on uneven ground. Easy to wash, simply rinse with water and let it sit to dry!
These balls are available in three colors: red, green, and blue, and have holes that are 2.75 inches in diameter, perfect for the nose of your favorite equine! If you have minis or other smaller barnyard friends, please email us for availability on the balls with holes measuring 2" in diameter.
Email Vin@reachouttohorses to order and for inquiries about availability.
