All citizens of the U.S. are Americans, but not everyone is a Patriot, theres differences in beliefs and political standing, which is what makes my country great in some ways. Also, our official language is English (and a better and improved version of the European English, so sorry Brits, related but not the same. Its in our laws that publicly you have to speak English so others can communicate with you bettet and just in general. Lots of Americans can and do speak 2 or 3 or more languages, but most (should) know that English is th primary language.

Yes you are partly correct but it was written in 1814 not 1812. But the tune itself comes from a song from the 18th century called "To Anacreon in Heaven" which was the official song of the Anacreontic Society, an 18th-century gentlemen's club of amateur musicians in London. Christmas was never "illegal" in the US. It was made a legal Federal holiday in 1870 so federal workers could get the day off. Individual states need to recognize it as a legal state holiday for state employees to get the day off. But the is a difference between being a legal government holiday and being illegal. Freedom of religion is kinda a big thing here!
