His rig is not just a dirty little secret. its the holy grail of all secrets for any guitar player who loves that kind of live music. just hearing that live turned me into a total tone nut. His particular tone is the ultimate riddle. Nobody else has that fidelity of sound. It zones you out and makes time move slower. The only guitar player who can make his guitar sound like an orca whale singing melodies and then play chords without touching a fking thing and it sounds like a dinosaur chomping at you. I understand why its such a closely guarded secret but I wish he would let someone in a little bit on wtf that process is. I dont even want to replicate that rig, I just want to know how he even went about considering each iteration of improvements for each tour. This particular tour is so amazing. Changed my entire perspective on music. Rock music would be much better if more people had an understanding of how to achieve that fidelity of sound. Then again, in his position I’d never share it until I’m retired and not one day sooner. This man could retire tomorrow, start selling gear and create a whole industry if he wanted but he’s not a sellout

one trick that all the guitarists use is volume pedals, and the live mixers also play along. it's not all static. but having seen them live, your description about "fidelity" is on point.

@@moliver_xxii In his reddit ama he said its like a game of hide and seek. I’ve been very into the chase as a learning experience. My band has a show this saturday that is a tribute to what we experienced on this tour. The pedalboard continues to evolve 😂

Supposedly hed record in the early days on a cheap Peavey Decade or Backstage. God tone of course over decades now, but its more how its recorded and mixed as well. The way it sits over everything else. Very few know. Iommi knows. Victor from Pentagram knows, but not many.

#Homme comes from a good family and it reflects in him. He is human and bears his soul. His Grandpa told me to watch A River Runs Through It and I needed that in that time of my life. May Josh be forever blessed as he blesses others with his talent and kindness. 🎉 thank you for interviewing him.
