I love all the positive reinforcement Minkman uses for his working pets. A much more humane and environmentally friendly form of pest control. It isn’t about bloodlust. Minkman channels inherent animal instincts to work a specific problem. He’s a country boy who understands how rat/mouse feces can contaminate a cash crop as well as animal feed for horses, chicken, goats, etc. Mice and rats are messy eaters that spoil more food than than they consume. Over six months, just two barn mice can devour as much as four pounds of grain and leave up to 18,000 droppings. Pest feces can also spread disease from animal to animal to human. Keep up the humane treatment of nature’s “workers” in providing organic pest control! It’s obvious that they love their work!

Honestly that "leaving the kill out in the open" behavior is very important, if you can i would breed for that even if the mink was kinda bad at hunting, you can always select for that later, anything to reduce the training the mink need is essential!

@chickenmonger1232 жыл бұрын
@@CMZneu There are videos where they warn dog owners that the Mink will bite the dog if it gets too close. A dog is only likely to make the mistake once. However dogs are cooperative hunters. If they don’t view the Mink as part of that, they do view humans and other dogs. Which means they can model their reactions based on those other two. Humans and trained dogs are pretty absolute about the respect for Mink that their teeth and speed deserve. If they watch, they’ll know.

When I lived in uni dorms they used them green rat poison boxes. One was poisoned right outside my window. The screeching was so intense I thought it was 2 rats fighting to the death. It literally haunts me to this day the excruciating screams that went on for at least 3 whole minutes. Idk exactly what the rat poison does to kill the rat but I can say for sure that even though they're being hunted this method is definitely more humane 💯
@nermalsturf2 жыл бұрын
most rat poison acts as an anticoagulant, causing the rat to bleed to death internally. it "works" because rats son't have a vomit reflex, so once it's ingested, it's a slow death. absolutely inhumane.

@LizzS172 жыл бұрын
@@metarugia3981 Foxes are not the the same as dogs. Dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years and want to please their owners so they are extremely trainable. Just because they are both Canidae it doesnt mean they behave the same. That's like saying "you can train a dog to be a hunting partner so you can train a bear to be a hunting partner." I'm not saying it's impossible to train a fox to do something but I have never seen a fox be trained to do things like a dog.
