For the final episode of this series, we would like to thank everyone who has watched and supported our videos, commented, liked and interacted with us over the past 12 months. From all the regular supporters and Likers to newbies who have just found the channel, we really appreciate you reminiscing with us about Ilford days gone by. We will probably return in the future, perhaps after some of Ilford's proposed developments take place, perhaps with something a bit different. A couple of the proposed development projects are mentioned in this Episode - Ilford's Western Gateway and Chapel Place. If and when they come to fruition they'll have another impact on the ever-changing street scene and skyline of Ilford. To round off Series 2 we recall the Broadway's original layout as well as Adelaide Terrace - long since demolished in the wave of mid-80s development. Would such a terrace be preserved by the town if it existed today? Thanks for watching, we really appreciate it and we'll see you in the comments!

Amazed yet again, thanks! Not seen this side before so glad I've seen the buildings demolished to make way for Sainsburys which in turn 40 years later is due to be changed again.

Thanks for your feedback! Being witness to the cycle of change in Ilford is interesting in itself. While the process seems slow before things get underway, once the new buildings are there we'll see how suddenly things can happen.

Somewhere down there on the right hand side was Henry Taylor, the school uniform outfitter. Mum took me there in August 1970 to get me fitted out for West Hatch Technical High, where I went after passing my 11 plus! I’ve no idea when it closed, but supplied uniforms for loads of local schools.

Henry Taylor was down there you're right, I remember it being on the corner with Clements Lane and Ilford Lane, as the corner unit within Pioneer Market. I've not been able to determine when it closed down either, but somewhere along the line Cranbrook Road's Lucilla (which dates back a few decades) became the defacto uniform provider for the borough.

I'm just hoping that those who run the private Facebook Group I'm on, Old Fife, decide to do a Fife Retro KZbin channel! Be quite interesting! Hopefully you return, and do one on Ilford railway depot!

I lived in britannia road in the late 70s any one remember bailey sweet shop . I remember the green shield stamp shop and a old cafe before they knocked the shops down and built sainsbury's . .

The Green Shield stamps shop was legendary but I do not have a photo of it sadly. Living on Britannia Road you would have had a front row seat to all the changes around you during that time.

it's completely changed . any one remember north Thames salvage warehouse next to the pioneer market bought some school shirts there all the clothes smelt of smoke lol

Nice to see a 193 . I am pretty sure that the Routemasters used earlier were green not red on the 193

Never a green Routemaster on the 193 route. There were Green Line buses that ran through Ilford, such as the 722 but not on standard London Transport routes.

@@IlfordRetro, no problem. Routemasters only ran on the 193 route for five or six years anyway. Prior to that, they were RTs.
