Hands down, you guys have the best hog vids out of the bunch. I just subbed and will be playing catch-up for a bit. Keep em coming...I gotta say though, these vids piss me off when I think of the farmers and ranchers that have to deal with these things. But, there's been a controversy over the dudes that used a mini-gun to mow down some pigs that got released. Now, I'm totally against the "releasing" part because that isn't "hunting." I wouldn't even call it "eradication" or "culling," because of releasing pigs had been been caught already. But, with the numbers that I've seen in these vids, I'm starting to think it'd be the farmer's most efficient way to do it...a whole herd at a time (if they hadn't been caught first).

Can eat a few yes. There is one place that will take hogs for dog food but it’s 4 hrs away. Most become part of the food chain for predators and buzzards. Food can’t be donated to food banks. I even tried to donate to a tiger refuge near by and they wouldn’t take them

These hogs really wrecked the ecosystem faster than any creature did including us. At least we know to stop and keep the balance, but these hogs keep destroying without any care. No wonder certain parts of the world forbid their people from consuming pork. Consuming need supplies. Supplies means domesticating pigs. And those hogs came from the escaped domesticated pigs. What are your thoughts on the different thermals you have been using? I am about to leave on a deployment, but when I get back I will be buying a thermal scope. We have a lot of land in East Texas (Alto area) and they have been tearing up fields everywhere. My distances can range from 20 yards to 300 for reference. Will buy a weapon mounted scope for my AR10 in .308 and a hand held to scan with. Thanks

First and foremost thankyou for your service. I would highly recommend a 640 resolution don't necessarily need it for that range but if you can I'd do it. Stay away from high mag scopes, anything over 2.5x is not going to work well for that range. From there look at features of importance. Rechargeable batteries and internal recording are both high on my list. I hate changing CR123s and having external wires going to dvrs, as something always seems to go wrong. So for me Pulsar is where its at. With that being said Id recommend a Trail xp50, Thermion XP38 or XP50 for a rifle scope. And Helion XP38 for a handheld. If you skimp on the 640 core the Trail xq38 is hard to beat.

I have been looking at the N-Vision Halo and Halo LR, but the lack of internal video recording has me a little put off. I'm wondering why the hunters don't fire off 5 or 6 rounds right in the middle of the larger herds. They often go for the hog that wandered away from the group... Then after the herd scatters, they try to pick them off while they are running.

We generally are shooting the one to the side because the sound of the bullet impacting them is louder that the gun. And a lot of times confuses them making them run further out into the field which gives us more shot opportunities.

It depends. I think before they understand that it means harm not so much. But after a few trips they’d figure it out. Problem is all the hoops you have to jump through just to legally be able to do it. And how much space a drone like that takes up.
