Colin, I have been watching this project from the beginning and always look forward to the next episode. I really appreciate your machining skills, your video and editing skills, and your sense of humour. I also appreciate the problems that you encounter and your abilities to solve them, explain the different options available, and why you chose the option that you did. I have no interest in watching a project that is simply bolting parts on, and I guess that that is why Binky has become so popular. In my mind you should be up there with them. It occurred to me after your last episode that every episode takes us closer to the end, and as much as I look forward to seeing the Stratos running, I will miss looking forward to another update. Please find another project when this one is done.

Thanks very much mate, really appreciate the comments. Agree, the videos of people bolting on steering wheel adapters off ebay don't do too much for me either! Don't worry, always more projects, got to get back to finishing the road car, a CNC mill to rebuild, a new service car to fit out and of course the stratos upgrades will endless!

@@105colin A CNC mill rebuild sounds interesting. Any details?

Neat video as ever, explaining what you are doing and why. As others have mentioned, getting a waterproof seal around those coil mounts will be useful. My Strat has been upset a couple of times with standard setup when it has gotten wet - most recently after towing the car to an event in pouring rain; reversed onto trailer for better weight balance, so louvred rear facing into the rain. Will have to think about rain protection when towing in future!

Love your OCD mate. We all know how absolutely critical it is to have the coil packs placed precisely down to the 1/10th ;) Keep it up.

Bahaha, think of the performance increase!

Amazing mini episode - even though I think the amount of work behind the scenes is gigantic. Now waiting for a maxi episode 😜

Thanks mate, hopefully the maxi episode isnt too far off!

cliff hanger ending there! Countersinking was a smooth move. Fantastic job as ever!

Without wishing to be too pedantic but, those are counteracted holes not countersunk 🙂
@philwesty213 жыл бұрын
@@stevejones9788 I've heard counterbore used as well. I'm not a precision engineer so the differences are lost on me. I do know good when I see it though!

Curses on auto correct. I meant to say counterbored 🙄

Nice little adapters and neat machining as per usual. One thing to ensure is that they seal well with the spark plug tubes in the head. The Eildon/R8 coils get very unhappy with water down in the well.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Yea thanks, a few people have mentioned that, i thought there was a decent seal there already, but on more careful inspection there is a gap, I'll make up some sleeves to keep the water out, cheers
@GarageTakai3 жыл бұрын
@@105colin Cool. Look forward to seeing how you do the sleeves. Im planning on sealing with o-rings to the cam cover on my setup, but its not a particularly open surface for me (Mazda BP)

Lovely work! Did you look at any other coils? I'm hoping the GM Alloytec coils fit, they have inbuilt igniters and are plentiful
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
I didn't really look around too much, I was talking to someone at work about it and he suggested these coils, they fitted very nicely and are very common with aftermarket conversions so just went with them

Great work, just watched your wiring episode too...doing wiring fills me with dread and is definitely my least favourite part of building cars.

Nice work again. Does the coil shank make a seal as it enters the spark plug hole in the cam cover? Reasons...new engine not finished? I appreciate the update, thanks.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Yea the coil is actually a really good fit it seats on the plug and is seals up on the shank, you could almost get away with out the additional mount but didn't want to risk it. New engine?
