Sorry if this question is off-topic, I just came across your channel researching for my ITB project. I see that your injectors are mounted kinda far away from the intake valves. Have you done anything with injector timing because the fuel has to travel a longer distance to reach the intake valve?

Great video. I am just about to switch from DHLAs to ITBs. One question. Is the signal to the MAP sensor useable? Does having the ICV on the same manifold impact the MAP signal at all? Thanks (I have a Mk1 Golf that I do the super sprints at PI with)

Great job, Colin! A couple of questions, as I’m planning my own Stratos replica. I know you said you used an MR2 radiator. I’m assuming from an MR2 Turbo? My Alfa V6 should have about 265hp; I want to have plenty of cooling capacity. Also, have you tested the suspension updates yet?
@105colin7 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, yea the latest rad is from a MR2 spyder i think, its a 3 pass one the original one I used was only 2 pass and was marginal at best, plus upgraded to bigger water pumps. Water cooling is good now, Oil cooling was still a problem and have added a massive oil cooler at the back of the car where i had the diffuser. The original engine had a decent oil cooler from the factory so i think oil temp is an issue with these engines. I have tested the suspension updates, they made a good improvement, and the car is much more predictable we've since discovered that the factory pickup points of the hawk induce some rear bump steer, was an easy fix, just had to move the trailering arm inboard point 20mm closer to the chassis rail, haven't tested that one, but should be further improvements.

Hey mate, due to cancelation of events and then getting the alfa ready for a rally, that didn't happen I havnt, I havnt driven the stratos in anger yet, but we've booked it in for a track day soon, and I'll try and make an update vid, cheers

This is a bit of a long shot but do you know what thickness steel you used on these?
@105colin11 ай бұрын
2mm,which I ended up reenforceing on the top mount
@infamousaidy10 ай бұрын
@@105colin nice one cheers for that. I had started trying to replicate my billet 106 maxi uprights in steel for a more budget friendly option and I used 4mm so I was probably going way ott then! Cheers for coming back to me.

Me too! There has been a massive delay as I got the alfa out of retirement for a while pending a rally that never happened, but I'm back on the stratos now and test day should be soon!

Well done!! Your lateral thinking impresses me by solving little problems that others will simply shrug off! And I have subscribed. I am looking to scratch build something similar, obviously not able to do that to your standards since your skills far out-shadow mine. I was just wondering with the small foot-space, whether the C-bracket will not be bothersome and further cramp the space during the heat of the battle?
@105colin Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, the pedal box actually worked out really well and is not cramped at all with almost no offset either, I think the c bracket your referring to gets covered by a heal rest anyway, cheers

Hey Colin, did you (manage to) switch to MAP based load with this new sensor? Thanks!
@105colin Жыл бұрын
Yea got the MAP sensor working, but the signal was still a bit uneven to use as the main laod points, so sticking with the TPS for now
@youwantshum9860 Жыл бұрын
I've always heard throttles don't like MAP based load?
@alessandromeyer4888 Жыл бұрын
@@105colin thanks for the quick response. Uneven as in not balancing out enough? After being with TPS based load for a while it's ok, but i'm jealous of the accuracy and stable AFR of MAP. 🙂 Did you consider putting the sensor remote to the vacuum tube? some say this will balance things out better.

Thanks for the technical explanation especially regarding roll centres and roll axis, there doesn't seem much info about these out there. Generally rwd cars seem to be reducing thier rear roll centre due to camber change on acceleration / squat. I managed to change the rear RC on my classic mini(rear RC originally at groundlevel) and found it feels better on initiating a turn (roll frequency) and also I believe means the rear contributes more to overall roll stiffness / potentially less understeer in a mini. The car feels great IMO. People seem afraid of high roll centres due to jacking it took me quite a while to come to the understanding of jacking you showed in this video so should be useful to others.
@105colin Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I probably should have spoken a bit more about outright roll center height vs roll axis angle. As the rear RC moves closer to the CG the weight transfer will happen quicker as it's not being reacted through the springs and dampers, which usually leads to more OS, and harder to read. Like everything with suspension setup, it's all a balancing act! Cheers mate
