😜 I am so done with rats 🐀 I don’t mind them in my yard but come on keep to your own part 😂😂. Oh my Katie we get hose bans here but luckily so far those bans do no extend to veg gardens. Our. It’s council are smart enough to know that keeping greens alive is good for the environment 🤞. It is super cold this week but I’m being very good and holding odd doing too many seedlings that can’t handle the cold.

Loving the painted rocks-especially the ladybirds. Good repurposed bed framing! Fingers crossed is right Linda it’s about all we can do if we don’t want poison control all over the yard. But if we enjoy being outside I guess it’s the biggest bonus. I gave up using wood for trellises etc as it rots too quickly in our wet weather. It’s super cold this week but sunny minus 2c last night 🥶. Have an amazing weekend and happy gardening 🐞🐞

Last year I grew tons of tomatoes from seed that was 10 years old. You aren't joking. It does feel like insanity with all the things that need to be done in the spring for the garden! Everything is looking great!♥

I think we fall prey to too much literature dictated by the actual manufacturer. We were shocked that best before dates on food are governed not by food industry or government regulations but by the people that make the products. But I gushed if we just ate thst at face value then that is our problem. I have since learned it doesn’t mean no good or inedible it just means maybe not perfect. So I always try seed and if they work 👍👍. Cleaned off the patio/porch today for a coffee in the morning times. Happy gardening 👩‍🌾

😜 it got down to minus 2 last night 🥶 but glorious sunshine today so hopefully I’ll get out and do some jobs. Yes I was watching Steph in Western Australia and she said they were at 46c 🥵🥵, such extremes we are dealing with in the last few years. I have had some in the ground for years Hugh and no issues and free is even better. Only issue ever is you can’t cut with a saw as they are hardened steal angle grinder does the job though 💪. Happy gardening 👩‍🌾

Hi Ali, whine away, I woud be mad too if my stuff was eaten, it's bad enough with your minus weather without critters eating it. You coloured ironwork has inspired me, I have a few bits of stuff lying around that I could paint and use, is it spray paint like you would use on a car? I love your attitude, sometimes you can't do anything about it, so don't sweat it. Big licks from Colin the dog.

Morning from a very very cold 🥶 day. Oh I was totally 🤬 but that’s gardening. Yes I use spray cans of we call it Tremclad spray it lasts a few years before I touch it up. I hope everyone is well and Colin is enjoying the sunshine 🌞, thank you for always being supportive 🥰

I have grown dahlias before but last year I got a free wit( purchase red one (it was an omen). Then I started looking into them and oh my giddy ain’t there are so many variations of stunning colours. 😜😜 my new addiction but all good as it garden related. Thank you it worked well last year 😜 but I put a few too many plants in and they were a jungled mess. So this year I’m doing borlotti up one side and my favourite purple queen which is a French bean but easy to find as the pods are yep purple. I grow lots of bush beans because I can dot them amongst other things and our favourite of that is red swan. I can get away with growing them in pots too and they produce well into fall 👍👍

I`m so sorry about the damage. It`s very disheartening. I used to hang my strawberries up in the polytunnel away from slugs and birds etc but I can`t lift them so high any more. Oh dear - getting old. Hope the weather gets better and your seeds germinate successfully.

It is Isabel but I try to look at the big picture and see the flowers that grow not the ones that die. I get Gerald to do my heavy lifting because I’m silly enough to try it myself and hurt myself in the process. Getting old is not fun but we carry on it’s a gardeners way 👩‍🌾, have a fantastic weekend and don’t work too hard 🥰

Hey Ali, the small holes in your straw/hay could be either ,birds collecting for nests or birds hiding there food, I have that all over my allotment paths where the birds are hiding their food.. you did 3 wiggle finger...🤣😂🤣😂🐮🐮🐮

Hello my lovelies we were talking about you on Danny’s live yesterday and saying how much pleasure you being to the table of gardening. So know you are missed when your winter hibernating 🤭. Mike at Sow Grow Eat said I’ll regret the marigold bombing and he may be right but I can do them up and moved them 🤦🏼‍♀️. It’s been extremely cold here was minus 🥶 2 again last night but glorious sunshine. I’m glad she’s enjoying sowing and getting things ready. Oh my.. I can understand your frustrations, those poor tulips munched 😩 Between the birds, squirrels and rodents you’re sharing that kitchen garden well this winter 😭 I suspect some of my outdoor onions will suffer the same fate as your garlic. It’s just been soooo wet here since the heavy frosts. The angle iron from the bed frames are perfect for holding your beautiful bean screen up. Thanks for the mention. Hey 😊 catching up on utube friends as I got up 2 hours after I went to bed. 😮 Loved the longer video Ali. Marigolds are my favourite ❤️ next year 😅 I will definitely look at different varieties. I had such great luck with marigolds last year that I was giving away trays of them to the next door neighbors luckily she loves them too. I never realized how many varieties there were but I’m not growing the huge ones again they were worse than the huge cosmos 🤭🤭. I think we just had too much heavy rain then freezing temps 🤦🏼‍♀️ but yes all we can do is try. I’m not very good at pricking out if I can clump things together they have a better chance here 😜. But the celery was a challenge to prick out and hey they have teeny tiny true leaves now. Here hoping we all have amazing seasons 2024 🥰🥰 Ali Gerald and Chevy 🌧️🇨🇦

Thats interesting about the seeds, my tomato were out of date 2021 and i grew them last year and were perfectly fine. I dont really take note to much of the dates. Daffodils are looking pretty can see thr yellow on them noe. Gutted about the plants but on plus side time to re sow xx Stay safe ❤

I don’t pay attention much because like BB dates on food there is not an industry standard it is all dictated by the same industry to make us throw things out and buy again 😢. I’m being more mom let’s give it a try and see what happens. Yes I’m sad things got eaten but we live in nature and deal with it and move on 🥰🥰

Had something cutting off the leaves of some of my primulas. Cut straight across half way down the leaf. Weird!

Someone suggested cut worm 🐛 and I have found a few in the soil 😡 just never thought they’d eat flowers but then I guess like people needs must. I’m going to have to dig up any others and see if there’s anything under there. Have an awesome weekend and happy gardening 👩‍🌾

It's devastating when a rat or mice decide your garden is their larder. one took up residence in my garden last year, and even though I waited patiently air rifle in hand, it never showed itself in daylight. One morning, it made the mistake of showing itself in daylight while Beau was in the garden . Like a true Terrier beau wasted no time in dispatching it. I'm glad to say I'm still rodent free due to beaus twice daily patrols. I hope your problem gets resolved soon.

I put my seeds in the poly tunnel a couple of weeks ago and forgot to put them in a run . Do you think although the packets got damp that the seeds will still be ok ?

Most seeds will be fine and I would just try to lay them out to dry up. You should always try sowing anyway as seeds are a lot more durable than seed sellers make us believe, and a seed not sown is a seed not grown. Happy gardening Sarah and have a super week 👍👩‍🌾
