touma this is why I love super Sentai as well as digimon. Both series knew when to end their arcs and move onto new characters. Plus most these characters grew up, unlike a certain inconsistently written forever 10 year old Pokemon trainer.

When Digimon originally aired, I thought it was a Pokémon knockoff and would not watch it. i rediscovered it more recently via Netflix and realized I was an idiot back then. It's totally not a knockoff, and it has a much deeper plot than the Pokémon anime. I think my favorite season is probably Tamers.

*(Watched the first three seasons)* I've actually found Digimon to be quite emotional at times in comparison to the Pokemon anime. The 1-to-1 relationships between a Digimon and their respective human companion can be deep, with each being a reflection of the other's good and bad points helping each other to better themselves whilst staying loyal to each other and their beliefs. Not only that, but it has some of the most powerful scenes I've seen in any kids-oriented show. For example the first movie with the Omnimon reveal - pure greatness; Bealzemon harnessing Leomon's Fist of the Beast King attack to help save Jeri in Digimon Tamers still makes me tear-up. That and the badass designs with Digimon such as Flamedramon, Wargreymon, Guilmon etc.. what a show. Would recommend to anyone with a love of anime and free time.

There are SO MANY Biblical references in Digimon. All 7 Deadly Sins have a representative digimon, Jesus himself is a Digimon (Jesmon, of the Royal Knights), and season 4/Frontier's main villain is Lucemon, aka Lucifer. His Mega form even incorporates the Dragon from the Book of Revelations, which protects Lucemon's core inside the Orb of Gehenna.

I'm not sure about that, lately pokemon games have been decreasing in quality and the last Digimon Story game I got to enjoy was Digimon Story Lost evolution (I did like Digimon Story Super Xros Wars but not that much). I also do like the Digimon World games but since pokemon doesn't really have that kind of games (unless you can count periferics as an attempt to have that approach that is) I can't really make a comparison.

Digimon is the best!!! Season one was amazing especially!!! It was so relatable & made my young mind really think beyond lunch time if you get my drift. I really like how the digital monsters were more as a reflection of comradeship rather than ownership from the kids. Balance...if the writing was as good ongoing I would’ve loved the entire series but if another show can come back like this...please keep the depth ongoing in the character development. Kids definitely need more shows like this...

Alright, first of all, thanks a lot for doing this, the digimon franchise is long overdue in having it's own 107 facts, although considering that there's 7 story arcs, and yes I'm calling them that and not seasons since each one has its own individual seasons. I would have been a lot interesting if a series of 107 facts based on digimon were made. Now I know everybody grew up with watching the fox kids dub of the series, but I believe the series should be watched in Japanese. Why? Because of the Japanese openings and evolution themes of course, they're so freaking awesome, they pump me every time I listen to them in an episode! And who created the majority of these master piece themes? None other than the late Wada Kouji. This man went on to create themes for the digimon anime all the way to the 7th story arc, this man deserve some credit. To me and I think a great majority of fans, I remember Digimon Adventure the most because of Wada Kouji's Butterfly (the opening theme), and Brave Heart (the evolution theme), and when I heard those same themes in Digimon Adventure Tri, the nostalgia hit so hard that it immediately make me want to watch every minute of its story. For the nitpicking, it was neglected to mention that the armor digi-eggs are known as digimentals in the Japanese dub, there's one for each crest, with the adition of the golden digimentals of Miracles, Fate and the digimental of Darkness. The digimon capable of armor evolving (V-mon, Hawkmon, Armadimon, Tailmon and Patamon) can do so with any of the digimentals, that includes Wormmon as well according to the card game. Terriermon did armor evolve with the digimental of Fate in the 1st Adventure 02 movie into Rapidmon, but actually according to his digimon card game info, Terriermon is capable of evolving into Rapidmon normally in the perfect stage (that's the ultimate form for you English dub purists), and he's a lot stronger! And no Terriermon can't armor evolve with the other digimentals, it armor evolving is only exclusive to the movie and the card game. Also the material used for the movie, the 1st segment is actually special short, which actually ends with Taichi reuniting with Agumon, something that was cut from the English dub. The 2nd and 3rd segments of the movie, are not shorts they're actual movies, although short, the first one, known as Our War Game, which takes place after the events of Adventure 01, and Willis has no ties to its plot. A very similar plot to this segment is used in a anime movie called Summer Days, which looks and feels a lot more awesome than how it was done in Our War Game. The third segment is known Touchdown Hurricane Landing/Trascendent Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals

Ryo from Tamers, actually binds together all Digimon seasons and games, online it's possible to find the story of games translated and to make it short, Ryo is originally from the universe of Digimon Adventure and the scene where he appears in the anime is at the end of the game Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers, and during the next game, D-1 Tamers, he gets upset that the only time he gets to go to the Digital world is when the other kids are in danger or when one specific Digimon shows up to whom he as a connection, Milleniummon. After a battle with him, Ryo gets send to the past and visits different Digimon universes from the series and his partner fuses with milleniummon to defeat him once and for all and stop his constant rebirth. After the fusion, the God of the digital world offers Ryo to return home or go to a different universe and he decides to go live in the tamer universe.

Out of the two of them Digimon Universe Applimonster is better. Tri makes no sense and I've watched it in sub and the available dub and it still make no sense. Plus I find myself hating the characters... (Trying to keep this non spoilery.) Like dude someone just died. Let people breathe and grieve a sec before you make them go running off somewhere for more people to die. But that's just me. I like Appmon more mostly it reminds me of Adventure mix with Tamers. It's fun and light hearted but can I make you feel things and make you ball your eyes out at a really sweet scene or a emotionally gut wrenching scene. And has a plot twist that makes Tri wish it could have done. But again just my opinion.

It's funny that Ryo being included in Season 3 was an executive idea since so many fans love him and his story and personally I kinda wish he had his own season or came back in tri. There's a ton of fan theories about him. He actually was a key part of season 2 as well but it was kinda glossed over.

I will always side with Tai/Sora. But thank you for pointing out that Yamato/Sora were intended to be together by the writers, I just learned that myself about 2 years ago. I may not like it, but its what the writers planned, still imo i think Yamato is the less likely to end up with anyone in his group. And he also becomes an astronaut... I agree with you. I actually think it's kinda cringey how the US anime industry keeps trying to pretend American dub voice actors are extremely important celebrities; you have some legit good ones like Steven Blum but a lot of them simply can't even act, but despite this companies pointlessly dedicate disc space to having them do commentary tracks for the shows. US dub voice actors are pretty much the least interesting people to hire for commentary tracks since they have nothing to do with the actual production of the show and are usually far from being experts.

So... there needs to be another one of these, and it needs to have more than one mention to Frontier (season 4), and have mentions to Savers/Data Squad, Xros Wars/Fusion, Hunters, AppliMonsters, and Tri. Here's some other facts, Matt and TK are brothers, but have divorced parents which is indicated by their different last names (Yamato/Matt Ishida and Takeru/TK Takashi). Yamato and Takeru's names are derrived from a Japanese figure known as Yamato Takeru. Takeru actually gets handed a machine gun in episode 43 and him and Puppetmon actually enter into a game of war. Depending on the English version, you can actually see the gun that Takeru held and the bulletholes in the floor from Puppetmon actually shooting at TK. Matt actually gets hit on when they are hitchhiking back home. Hikari's name has a lot of hidden meaning in Digimon Adventure. Light is also her crest name and the town the original digidestined lived in for the first Japanese Digimon short (Digimon Adventure) has Hikari in it's name. The second part of the Digimon movie translated to "Our War Game" from Japanese, covers the evolution of Diablomon and how he gets access to a missile to destroy Tokyo. The same concept was used for the popular anime movie "Summer Wars" which has a similar premise. This is because they both had the same director. Name changes are common in the Digimon franchise. Even the name Digidestined was a result of a change. Originally, the Digidestined were called Chosen Children in the original Japanese dub. Season 2 name changes include Davis/Daisuke Motomiya, Yolei/Miyako Inoue, Cody/Iori Hida. Ken kept his name the same, but the Digimon Emperor was called the Digimon Kaiser which is German for Emperor. Ken kicked a dog in the second season of Digimon. This was cut for obvious reasons. Season 2 of Digimon is technically called Digimon Adventure 02. 02 does not represent a sequel, it is the year the season takes place (2002, three years after Adventure). In Digimon Tamers, the original Digimon Adventure continuity takes place as a TV show. The only connection comes from the movie Battle of Adventures. There is plenty more and I have not even tackled after season 3. Please do another one of these because there is a lot more to talk about.

"'70s Action Hero" (references "Saban's Masked Rider", which was from the Mid-'90s and was based on "Kamen Rider Black RX", which was from the late '80s) Oh boy Justimon was specifically based on "Riderman" from the series "Kamen Rider V3" (which explains the one mechanical arm)

The 'radioactive' symbol on Guilomon's (and Megadramon's) chest is known as the 'Digital Hazard' symbol. Also, Adventure and Adventure 02 had many audio dramas, one being called 'The Door into Summer' after the Heinlein book, as it shares many similarities, which are pointed out in the audio drama itself. There are multiple references to H.P. Lovecraft in 01 and 02, all written in the language of the digital world. -I just rewatched all 50 eps of 02 so then I went on a trivia rampage- (I can give links for those interested, btw)

There seems to be a running theme in most seasons where the character Leomon is killed. Now whether this is a reference to how Azlan the Lion in "The Lion the Witch and the Wardobe" was killed, it is not entirely clear. But that woudl be a cool little easter egg. But still, he's died at least 3 times in 3 separate seasons. I thought one was enough.

This one was weak. No mention of Wada Kouji's fantastic work in the series (Songs like Butterfly, Brave Heart, With the Will and Hirari) A single mention of Frontier and zero mention of the savagery that was Savers. I think if the video was more focused on Adventures 1 (and 2) it would've been better, as it wouldn't branch of the rest of the franchise without leaving fans of the 4th and 5th series dry.

Pokemon has one "issue" that Digimon either completely averts, or ignores... in the same manner as the Pokemon GAMES. Specifically characters not aging, either they do age, or its a new cast...

When it comes to the anime's, Digimon is definitely better than Pokemon. For me it doesn't matter which came first. I didn't watch Pokemon for very long, but from what I saw, there wasn't much character development, and not much of a story arch. In Digimon however, there was plenty of both. I haven't really seen any of the original Japanese versions of both shows, so I'm going off of the English dub.

I'm currently watching Digimon 02 and I am very much enjoying it, Arukenimon just shown up now and revealed her Digimon form. What's funny to me is that she never reveals her name or identity as a digimon but they somehow call her by her name before that point and then they're somehow shocked at the revelation! I would have liked to have seen Ken develop and find an egg of the crest of kindness though. And I'm glad this points out the dark ocean story with Kari because that seems like it's going somewhere and it just doesn't

Digimon has plenty of games, I personally like Digimon world 1-3, Dawn and Dusk which is let's play I'm doing against Pokemon Sun, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth which has a sequel set now. Digimon also has something Pokemon doesn't have it at least to my knowledge which is a MMO. I'm not too much of fan of Digimon Masters Online but still been around for about six years now.
