Thanks for the video--just ordered this over the weekend off of eBay for a couple of quid less than on Amazon, to replace my aging Logitech C270. In the mean time, I've already installed the driver/software. I think it's a little naff it doesn't have a video capture option, but it does have a still/photo option--it's a pretty basic software feature that it should've had. I might have to use FFSplit broadcasting software to capture it, mess around with the bitrate---or see if Logitech's software picks it up.

+Legendary Music No problem! I definitely agree the software is pretty rubbish but its nice that it came with it. There are a few camera software's out there but they don't really have all the features in one. Once you've found a good one, don't hesitate to comment back. Not really :), the quality inst great - very over sharpened and in my experience the FPS is very low.

Tech Reflect 1080p 30 fps for 25 bucks is a steal lol especially when it has auto light adjust included

I am wondering if this is compatible with Ubuntu Linux 15.10. If you have the time could you install ' Virtual Box ' and then the Ubuntu ISO to see if this works?

The IRC 'Freenode' #ubuntu channel said 'Cheese' supports HD webcams. I have also installed 'VLC Media Center' to record my videos.

+Ron Piggott Hi, I don't actually think this NEED's the special driver which it comes with, I think you might be able to use the standard webcam drivers. I will see if I can test it, then I will get back to you.

+Tech Reflect I would sure really appreciate this. But if you come to the point where you can't test it please tell me this directly. I've contacted you because I mail ordered an E-Bay "HD" webcam that arrived on Monday. The ad lied. It isn't "HD". I've begun shopping again and found this model. I started searching online to see if I could get confirmation it would be successful. This is why I messaged you lot. It is my understanding Ubuntu Linux has a base set of drivers that programs tap into and you don't need special drivers. I just don't want to be disappointed a 2nd time.

Could you send me the link to the first one you bought? Also that sounds right, and even if this exact driver doesn't work, there will be many more on the web which you can install.

+Tech Reflect This is what I already purchased: www.ebay.ca/itm/381346518004 On the box it came in reads "640x480 up to 15frame/sec(VGA)" Doing a search on the e-bay ad for "640" doesn't yield results. I do have a dual boot operating system, but I *hate* Windows and rarely use it. I tried it in Windows 7. It is as the box says --- 640x480; there is no 50 mega pixels camera on it.

+Ben Hornsby To record my screen on that occasion I used ZD Soft which is great because you can change the size and quality of the recording! However it does lag your computer a lot if you don't have a beefy one. So If you were looking into recording game play or heavy recording I would recommend a hardware recorder e.g. the elgato
