Hello all, I removed these pins from their connectors then refined the 109 grams of fairly low grade gold pins. They had a stainless steel keeper around them, which is really difficult to manually remove. So I ran a these in dilute nitric acid. The diluted nitric acid will not react with the stainless steel. This was the easiest way to remove the stainless from the gold plated pins. I was disappointed with the results.. however, you don’t know until you know! Now I know! 🙄🤪😆 Thanks much for your precious time. Love to all Peace Prospector Tripp

Agreed, Nev.. the appearance of these pins looked good by eye 👁 However, the proof is in the pudding 🍮 Low-grade pins for certain. In the end, all the gold-plated material gets the same Spooky Halloween Boiling Acid Treatment 😆 🧙♂️ 🧪 ⚗️ 🕷 🕸 👻 Thanks, Gold Hunter! Peace Prospector Tripp

You know Matt... those are just about the size for one of them Miniature Gold coins I've seen advertised. Of course you need a magnifying glass to be able to see the inscriptions and the stamp itself. But hey it's a heck of an fun adventure coaching that gold off those pins. I would assume that you keep the stainless remains as it too adds up and will pay off at the recycle arena's.

I put the stainless pieces in with my stainless scrap. I haven't seen the miniature gold coins. I'll look them up! Nowadays, I need a magnifying glass to closely eyeball a 1oz round! 😆 🤣 😂 I was surprised that these pins had so little gold. Where's my 🔎? Is that little dot gold there? 😆 No matter.. it all gets a Halloween Witches 🧙♂️ acid boil boil trouble and toil. With a pinch of 🕸 and a little of that 🪰 and poof! It's Gold! Thanks, bfam. First the poor guy has to endure a lot of chemicals to get knocked out in the end.😆. 0.102 grams of gold, not bad, Matt. 👍🤠

It's not too good, either 🤣😂😆 I was surprised that the pins had only 0.1 grams.. No matter.. everybody gets the Bioling Acid Treatment! 😆 Thanks, Peter.. Stay Golden, my friend Peace Prospector Tripp

4:22 how do you go about getting rid of that salt looking stuff.. maybe tin or something.. tin always gives me hell...
@ProspectorTripp2 ай бұрын
Yes, it does! I washed the material with water several times until the rinse water was basically clear. Then, another dilute nitric acid boil. The blue color is, as you know, copper. There was a tiny bit of lead/solder, but after the first rinse, I believe most was gone and, in fact, gave me no further trouble. I believe a better method for these pins would have been.. a hcl boil to cleanup the pins, rinse well, then the dilute nitric acid strip, then refine. Stay Golden Peace Prospector Tripp
