"Give me a smash".....and it was! It reached number 5 in the British charts. By the way, it was pre-'Dreadlock Holiday', which was a smash for one of the '5CCs' (Graham Gouldman and Eric Steward, who took the band name after Godley & Creme left to do their thing).

10cc are a great English rock band from the 70's. This group was super talented as every member was a multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer & producer. "I'm Not In Love" & "The Things We Do For Love" were 2 of their biggest hits. But they had other songs such as "Rubber Bullets", "The Dean & I", "The Wall Street Shuffle", "Silly Love", "Life Is A Minestrone", "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" etc.

From rhe 1975 album, "How Dare You" another great 10cc song. The title came from Graham Gouldman's Dad, who had a saying including the title. This faired well in the UK at Number 5, Canada 69 and US 83, not as well. They had 2 songs break the top ten in the US, I'm Not In Love and The Things We Do For Love. A friend of mine and I as kids stumbled upon 10cc Sheet Music LP and that was it. EVERY song on that release was great especially "Somewhere in Hollywood", the banger "Oh Effendi", and the quirky "Clockwork Creep" whose bridge opens the song "I'm Mandy Fly Me" on a later LP. We were Rush lovers first but 10cc fell into 3rd spot behind Supertramp. Cheers from Halifax Canada 🇨🇦

I think this is their best album.The gatefold album cover design was fantastic with the inter-related photos. This was the last album with the original lineup. 'Dreadlock Holiday' came later without Godley & Creme as 10CC became a bit more straight Pop. I guess you could say Godley & Creme were the more arty ones and the albums suffered when they left.

Terrific band, very creative and musically inventive. Their records were sophisticated and musically adventurous. They actually sacrificed some pop chart success I believe in making these records more for the art sake than the commercial sake as per the lyrics. It WAS a single and charted #83 in 75. I feel it should have done much better, but I dug everything they did.

Funny, I've not heard this song for years, but in my head one of the rifs started swirling and I thought 'that's 10cc - but what track?' And by elimination, here I am. That 10cc's music worked for me as a kid nearly 50 years back and still works for me as an emerging old geezer speaks volumes as to its quality and originality. I find myself seeing deeper stuff in the lyrics and listening harder to the music nowadays - the intro and and those little swirling arty rifs in AFAS are truly beautiful. A step beyond the Fab 4 maybe.

There are many theories of art. Art for art's sake. Is a theory which does not acknowledge art as a a process. So in that sense it is a more inferior theory as understanding the process of jhoe the art came piece ce about can add further dimensions to the art. But the song is catchy.
