The best song ever made about a guy who is DESPERATELY in love and claims that he isnt. Its actually a very sweet song.

As was mentioned, they took each member, recorded 12 notes each in the chrmatic scale, mixed them 16 times, then literally played the mixing board, also got the secretary to come in and record "be quiet, big boys don't cry"

This song was very unique with that haunting sound. Never heard any other song like it. The 70s music was awesome! Nice reaction.

My No1 fav song of the 70s, I was 11 in 75 this was in the charts here in GB, I was going out with an American girl we would dance to this, talk about young love we were infatuated even at such a young age. We kept in touch for about 3yrs by letter (no F/book or other platforms back then) but over time we drifted and the letters stopped I got my last letter from her out of the blue in 1981 when were 17, she was engaged and happy. I wrote back all the best to her told her I loved her but wished her well distance being to great . Now 40 plus years later I hear this tune think of her wonder were she is and how life has gone etc. I hope it has been as good for her as me, and thank you 10cc for this tune in particular and your other music . You may want to listen to same like song from about the same time by a little known band called Liverpool Express the song is called You are my love .

Isn't it funny how songs can just evoke nostalgia like that. I've got other songs that do the same for me with people whom I knew at that time of my life. Like you, I hope everything has turned out well for them.

I've always loved this song. It came out just when I was really starting to listen to the music.

The sound is 192 voices apart from a Fender Rhodes piano, a bass drum and a Gibson guitar. they recorded each of the 12 notes in the chromatic scale 16 times and looped them through a tape head.. A stunningly beautiful song. Try Dreadlock Holiday or I'm Mandy, Fly me.

It's amazing that you haven't heard this song. Every one at least tried to cover it. But it took some exceptional talent to do it properly. I suggest you react to miss Deni Hines perform it on her "A delicious collection." album. She was an Australian artist who made it big in Europe.

I think this tune broke the camel's back of schmaltziness, and Godley and Creme struck out on their own. They made way better music after the split than the remnants of the band ever did.
