I enjoy these mid/late 70s songs that sound like multiple songs in one🔥

Wow! That was SUPER good and interesting. It doesn't really surprise me that much knowing how good and creative 10 CC were but it still did stun me. I like your "Bohemian Rhapsody" reference, Empress! Spot-on in a real sense, even though we all know it's hard to compare anything to that miracle of a song.

I'm glad when anyone listens to 10cc beyond "I'm Not In Love" and "The Things We Do For Love" 10CC SHEET MUSIC THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK HOW DARE YOU! (which "Don't Hang Up" comes from) are all brilliant albums, written by a band who controlled their destiny as much as an artist can in the music business. They owned their own studio, they made sure everyone in the band got royalties and singles opportunities, they were all multi-instrumentalists, invented their own equipment, and two of them went on to become directors of music videos that revolutionised the industry. And they were funny. All of their songs are satire and pastiche. INCLUDING I'm Not In Love. Once you get the joke, the whole dynamic changes.

You reacted to 10CC before with their most popular track "I'm Not In Love" with it's innovative multitrack vocals. Another great song was "Cry" in 1985 when they just became "Godley & Creme" ... as a duo with just the two song writers. It has a great video and they became better known for making videos for other artists.

To answer your question about which song came first: Bohemian Rhapsody and Don't Hang Up came out right around the same time, late '75-early '76. How Dare You! is my favorite 10cc album. It goes all over the place, technically and musically. Fun fact: The back photo on that album cover has another split screen, this time with a perverted guy at a phone booth talking to a shocked woman dressed as a flight attendent alone in a hotel room with the TV on in the background.

***1Occ (ALBUM COVER) TRIVIA TIME!!*** ...hang on THIS.... (4:28) .... - ...I wasn't gonna do a "Trivia Time", due to this tune not being an actual hit....but this 1976 LP cover, has a LOT to say!! ....Empress thinks it's a "Dynasty"-influenced piece O' DRAMA, but, it's telling a VERY intricate Story.... (5:59) - ...the LP cover is a 'homage' to 70's Commercial ads that told a 'story' in 1 photo, and you'd have to read the description, to 'get' what it means...HERE, The cover tells a story with all the 10 SONGS on the Album, tied in, with the 'theme' of PHONES, intertwined with the title track, "Don't Hang Up".... - ...the FRONT, shows a drunk, lonely Housewife (w/ a Couple arriving unannounced), & her Husband, miffed that she's calling him at work (w/ the same couple in the Photo on his Desk)...the BACK, shows a shocked Flight attendant, getting a 'obscene' call from an Old Man on a pay phone (with the SAME couple on her TV, and outside the Phone booth..... ) ...the Photos, are "themes" of someone FORCED to not 'hang up', along with the ACT, of "..how DARE You!??".... - ...the INNER sleeve, shows the Band (mixed into a Party with 50+ People, all talking on PHONES, and NOT conversing with each OTHER....VERY forward-thinking, in these cellphone- SM addicted times.... - ..The cover was designed by the legendary Art Studio team, HIPGNOSIS, who did covers for The Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, T-Rex, Wings, YES, Peter Gabriel, Wishbone Ash...an IMPORTANT Team... Interesting ‼️ So even back then phones were taking over people lives 😳 and is the couple their child?

@@EmpressReacts ...yes, either the Guy, or the Girl (the Couple)...the whole Albums theme is about 'connection' and 'disconnection'...which, would explain why 'they' were in the Picture on the desk.....

10CC had a great cinematic sound. Last album with the original lineup. Four albums of interesting experimentation. Love 10cc....I also enjoyed the reaction. If you this style check out Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Similar imagination and the use 1930s musical themes in their songs

Productionwise 10cc was often compared in the seventees with steely dan (i e without the jazz). Their lyrics were often more cryptic, more weird and sharper than those of Becker & Fagen. It's a pity Godley & Creme left the band after this album to do their own thing. They were responsable for the more experimental songs of 10cc. They went on as a duo and it's worth checking out their greatest hits album.

This was released just a few weeks after Bohemian Rhapsody, so probably not enough time for them to have been influenced by it. The 10CC track I really love is Dreadlock Holiday. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIaxhZ5rrdiroZY

Oh my friend 10cc launched une nuit a paris 8 months before Bohemiun. Queen was 10cc support band in december 1974. Freddie heard this song live far before they launched. Listen to it. One night in Paris
