It's a 1978 classic, I was 5 years old. A groovy reggae. The song was based on actual events. Reggae came from Jamaica 🇯🇲, an island in the caribbean. I'm from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹, an island in the caribbean, 30 min from Jamaica by flight.

Not based on a particular event but drawn from experiences of tourists visiting the Caribbean during the time when the West Indies dominated the cricket world. "Queer me pitch" is a cricket term when the bowler deliberately overan onto the pitch to cause damage to the surface. Clever, clever, clever song !!

10cc are a brilliant group from the 70s try listening to "I'm Mandy Fly Me", "I'm Not In Love" or Rubber Bullets. A similar record from the time is Typically Tropical singing "I'm Going To Barbados" worth a listen.

This video is one of the milestones long before MTV was a thing. Bands started to produce videos so it could be shown on TV without being forced to travel all over the world. Instead of just showing the band on stage, some used the video to tell a story or make a piece of art out of it. Soon people liked those videos more than the bands in the studio lip-syncing to a song. MTV made it mainstream. For me, growing up at this time, some of the songs are not just songs, it's multi-media art.

Truthfully speaking , songs from way back are the best songs I have ever heard. they are just so many that I listen to them every evening every blessed day once my kids are sleeping .
