Love your videos. The question about JRPGs being shorter can be kinda iffy to me. I have a few reasons as to why JRPGs could be long and be fine. 1) if I love that game, I want to invest as much time into it as I want, the adventures are so grand that once you beat a JRPG that’s like 80 hours, I just can’t help but feel accomplished and love the time I have with it. You only experience a blind playthrough once, appreciate your time with it if you really love it. 2) I feel like JRPGs being “150 hours” could also have to do with JRPGs sometimes being vague on what to do and where to go in the past so a lot of the time you will see people just running around for hours figuring it out. But newer games like DQXI point out where to go easily but still encourage exploration. 3) in reality 20 hours out of a 60 hour or so game is the actual story the rest of that time comes from dungeon crawling, side quest, character grinding, interactive conversations, etc. that goes back to what I said about investing your time into the game if you love it. If anything I’m more attached to the games that I put so much more time into than the shorter ones. in conclusion, I get it, sone people don’t have as much time on their hands to play long games but honestly that little time you put into a game you love so much could go by quick you never know.

I totally agree with you, especially on the blind play through aspect. I like me a long JRPG, when those hours are put to good use. I guess for me I miss the shorter, tighter experiences of the SNES JRPGs and even a lot of PS1 JRPGs. For instance, I love the Persona games, but without fail I get to about 80 hours or so with them and I want them to be over. Which is the worst feeling you can have while playing a game imo.

Oh yeah I totally feel you, I like me some good short ones too. Lunar Silver Star Story my favorite of the shorter ones. I feel you on Persona as well sometimes, it could drag. I could definitely sit there and play DQXI or the Trails of Cold Steel games for a long time and still have fun with it.

Cid Kramer used an orphanage as a front for child soldiers. Because they're all orphans nobody is going to miss them if they fall in the line of duty. It doesn't help that Cid is funding Balamb Garden through a Chutulu loan shark. Also knowingly make the SeeDs develop amnesia by Junction.

@John Smith Also if Xu and Quistis didn't berate Sefier after the Dollet mission things would have turned out different. Kinda like how if Donald wasn't a dick to Riku in Traverse Town in KH1 the entire series could have had a different outcome.

you deserve more views and subscriber man,, the only reviewer i subscribe is you.. trusted and play alot before making a review. i watch ign etc. but sometimes they can't be trusted. i prefer actual fans and gamers doing the review. keep it up man

Something that could be done for retro reviews, is their ports through the years. Not sure how many of those would work. I SURE AS HELL wish there were some ports of Alunda (besides the psOne classics on the ps3)

I’ve actually got a whole series based around that very idea in development! Not sure which game I’m going to do first, but I have some ideas.

See, the best way to cover older JRPGs is taking on the obscure ones. Then you can add whatever you want because odds are good no one else cares about it enough to cover them. That’s probably also why no one will watch my future videos on things like Guardian’s Crusade or Beyond the Beyond.

Jokes on you, if I play an FE game, will be the ones that gives me the option to no Perma. Buahahahaha! And nice video once again. Lovely to hear your answers and how enjoyable is to watch you. As always, so darn handsome. 😊

I got to ask. What do you think the best Tales of game is?

The only other ones I’ve played are Symphonia and Xillia and I liked both of them more than Vespy. Its story just bored me to tears.

JRPG Central Virgil, you should really play the ps1 port of Tales of Phantasia. It was my first so I could be a little biased but I think as far as Snes Jrpgs goes, it holds up very well beside all of the great jrpgs from that console!

Yeah, living in Final Fantasy 8 wouldn't be so bad if I lived in that fishing village and could just play Triple Triad all day.

I personally love long jrpgs, when it's a quality gameplay like persona 5. For mediocre games I can't finish them anymore when they pad their length with backtracking etc.

@John Smith I think p4g is probably my favorite. P3 was really good, but ionno I didn't really find any of the cast that interesting to be honest

JRPG that surprised me the most was Earthlock. Best JRPG I've played in years, and it wasn't even made in Japan.

Fire emblem is a persona 5 ripoff. I even predicted the review scores saying it would be getting 9s....IGN 9.5 surprised me......fire emblem would be nothing without persona 5
