@@10KProductions you should break it up into videos by seasons, then make one video where you rank all the episodes. That would make it easier on both you and the viewer in my opinion. Seems like a win-win, plus you would get more views.

Dwight and Pam's relationship is actually really heartwarming if you pay close attention. He's constantly supporting and rooting for her, saying she's his best friend in the office, she tries to advocate for him being a nice guy. They actually have a very cute friendship that's worth paying attention to. I also think that's the reason Angela has a vendetta towards Pam for much of the series.

@@kylehoulihan3875 well, is he really? I know he has some antiquated, dogmatic values, and a love of sci-fi, but the man has self-worth coming out of his but (the healthy kind you build from achievements, not the unhealthy kind of god-given entitlement over lesser beings). He is also very un-celibate for most of the series. He’s entwined with Angela one way or another for over half, and has success with other women throughout; in NYC with the basketball team, at Pam’s wedding, the blonde he almost marries at the end, whatever happened with his former babysitter 🤢 from “Dinner Party”. The man is getting laid. The defining, titular characteristic of incels is that they don’t. I’d hate to think that anyone who has fashioned values and likes Star Trek is automatically an incel. We don’t want to paint more men with that brush. And we shouldn’t pass Dwight over to the incels as a hero.

I have seen most of the first ... 13ish seasons MANY times and realize, as I get older, the brilliance of the writing. There are, especially in the first 7 seasons, lots of deep, compelling, thoughtful, insightful themes, scenes, characters etc. The comedic shows that survived beyond a couple of seasons typically have depth, compassion, insight etc that provide underpinning for the fart and sex jokes 😅

I find it very interesting how much of the ranking depends on someone's favorite character, especially in earlier seasons. For example, I see that Halloween or Michael's Birthday are not very pleasant for you because Michael is your favorite character and you hate seeing him act like an asshole. I personally adore these episodes because they have one of the sweetest Jim and Pam moments, because those two are my faves. 24:35 I disagree that Dwight was out of character when he went against Michael's back for a promotion. You see, the writers explore it more in future seasons, but Dwight really clings to power, not to a person. He likes Michael and enjoys his company only because he sees Michael as a way to be promoted and obtain more power in the office. It is quite clear in season 6 or 7, when Jim is promoted to be co-manager, Dwight not only loses respect for Michael, he loses interest in being his friend. So I think this episode is the beginning of Dwight's character journey in a way.

he also sees being an ass kisser is not the way to the top...he genuinely likes mike but mike is a dick to him too.. and eps like dwight's speech and health care prove why dwight may want mike's job because he knows mike sucks at it and is a bad friend..dwight puts the sake of the company over his bond with mike...rightfully so..thats who dwight is..after all..he cares for everyone's sake and only does it when angela threatens him that everyone will lose their jobs if he does not and she may also stop liking him so he has to do it...he says to jan he thought about this for a long time and put effort into the pros and cons...we saw his struggle with the choice..he really did not want to do it and was not going to without angela pushing him...but then he did as he realized for the sake of others he has to betray his mentor...it makes sense with his character...the fact he accepts doing laundry and being a dunce on a chair with a hat proves he is a good follower and knows his place when hes caught ...he could just get another job but he cares too much and knows his sales matter and is what keeps the others employed at a failing branch at a receding paper company as digital and tech takes over...thus mike stops being mad at him..he wants dwight to be manager one day but wait for it and earn it so hes ready annd knows what not to do....dwight was eager to skip steps and felt entitled to it because of his sales and butt kissing

I personally like how Michael will go from being sympathetic to a “villain” pretty consistently because it balances him out as a person and as a boss. He is obviously ignorant throughout the series which causes him to be unbearable and pretty awful at times but he’s still grounded in his humanity because we can understand his intentions are usually always wholesome he just goes about things the wrong way. If we didn’t have episodes where he makes terrible mistakes than it just wouldn’t be the same Michael.

I never understand how people see Michael as the sympathetic character, his intentions are almost always selfish and he's an awful boss, he never really redeems himself until his arc with holly. Unlike other characters like Jim or Andy where their bonds in the office feels earned, seeing Dwight and Jim become actual friends feels good, seeing how the office coming to respect Andy after he sticks his head out for them feels good, but Michael just got all that without really earning it. 'Dinner Party' has one of my favorite call-back/Easter Eggs. When the cops arrive after someone called in the noise complaint, for a brief frame, you can see in the background that Michael & Jan's neighbor's are a same sex couple. Which is a call back to "Office Olympics' [S2;E3] when Bill assures Dwight & Michael that the community is very 'accepting of other lifestyles'

Season 2 Halloween was so much better than you give it credit for. It shows that he is still Michael Scott and makes poor decisions but more over shows who he is as a person. A man who wants over everything else to be liked, appreciated, and to not feel so alone and have the dream of a great job and happy home life. I felt this episode fleshed him out more than most others at that point while still making him the illogical manager we know him as.

it's not surprising that someone wants a sitcom to be funny. conflict drives the plot a lot of the time, and that's fine, because it's funny. even then, a lot of the Jim/Pam related conflict in the early seasons which distinctly *isn't* played for laughs is viewed as a positive on this list.

What works for The Office is it's just not a comedy show. It has a heart and that's some scenes will gut punch you. Jim-Pam story has a feel of romantic movie. It's not treated as the Ross and Rachel story line. Dwight being one of the funniest character just straight up goes to depression when Angela dumps him and you don't laugh at him, you feel for him. Michael though being idiotic still makes you cry when he leaves The Office. If anyone thinks it's just a comedy show then haven't really understood what it stands for. It's undoubtedly the greatest creation on TV. Sue me ❤️

it sucks cos Catherine Tate is awesome. she's pretty fuckin funny. her just kinda stealing Andy's job infuriated me, and then finding out that her life is pretty shite kinda works. she's just really good at manipulation and talking her way in and out of things, using it only to her own gain because life has dealt her a bad hand and she continues to get screwed over by people. there was so much room for her to learn to change and be nicer, learning that treating people better will more than likely reward with the same, but you can never expect everyone to give you everything just because you're nice, that's not realistic. instead they just kinda shoved her into a desk and didn't do much with her. she might as well have just not been in the show. I don't recall anything she did after she was demoted other than hanging out with Pam, which was wholesome, and her weird, unconprehensible romance with Toby.

Dwight's respects and admires Michael for his position and achievements in the company. Their entire friendship consists of Dwight being Michael's assistant. And so if Dwight had a chance to get Michaels position, he'd take it (at least in the early part of the show) and he'd treat Michael as an equal or less.

You didn't mention the one thing that I think is the episode's masterstroke, though: The way that the camera stays with Jim in the car while Michael and Dwight go inside the Utica branch on their harebrained mission, so that we only hear the resulting mayhem over the walkie-talkie rather than seeing it. In comedy as in horror, it's often what's NOT shown that's most effective.

Diversity Day will forever be the most hilarious episode of this show, I love the early episodes where writers aren't afraid to "go there". That's where the magic truly happens

Are they not up to the snuff of early Office? Yeah. But I do find a lot to love in both seasons.

I applaud the work put into making this video. That being said, I noticed that any episode where the female characters' stories were in the forefront, the ranking was pretty low or the opinion was indifferent at best. Just something I noticed as a female viewer who really loved this show and certain episodes. Even if the stories were emphasized or mentioned, it was mostly in relation to another male character rather than character's plot on it's own. Could just be a lack of focus on the female characters by the show itself tbh? It was super interesting to listen to a totally different opinion on other male characters though! (e.g. you like Stanley's character VS me not being a fan but me LOVING the chaos of Robert California but you not being a fan LOL). Creed's a legend though haha. This was super insightful!

@@SH-zz2ef i honestly don't get people who think feminism is some kind of bad thing. sure the word has been used in some negative extreme ways lately, but when it comes down to it it's just wanting equal rights for women, which is a very reasonable thing for a human being to want. god forbid people want basic rights 🙄 ignorance will be the downfall of humanity, and sexism will play a part in that

No you're right, especially with Pam. Male fans loved her when she was meek and submissive but shit all over her when she became more confident and assertive

@Maxim_H thank fucking god someone has a brain about this shit. the word has been ruined by that phase of lunatics taking everything too far, now everyone hears feminism as something awful and misandry when it's genuinely not.

This video is great for recapping earlier seasons. I started watching again from season 5 after not watching for years. I’ve never watched the last 2 seasons so that’s my goal, so that’s why I restarted in the middle of the series. But being caught up on the hours and hours of episodes from seasons 1-4 has been a privilege, thank you sir 🙏

I personally loved that they gave Jim and Pam some drama in the last season. Their relationship just felt a little to perfect in the first seasons and didn’t feel realistic after a while.

I think they pushed it too far with the sound guy. they didn't need to bait an affair, it's insulting. but I agree, I like that they had a big issue and had to overcome it. I also like how they address it in the end, people asking how she could doubt it but her saying that everyone says it's like a fairy tale romance but not feeling like it in the moment, it's pretty realistic.

On the real, Creed is by far my favorite character. I actually die laughing to every scene of his. My number one Creed moment is when is playing hookie from work, only for work to find him on a bus.. I just cry laughing thinking about it, every. Single. Time. Cheers, awesome video man! Subbed for sure! 👌👌

I actually really liked season 8, season 9 (especially the first half) is the only part of the office I despise. Also, you seemed pretty positive about most season 8 episodes, but the conclusion was completely negative. I feel like people automatically think “Michael left in season 7, I didn’t like the later episodes, so season 8 and 9 are bad” and stick with that opinion even after rewatching the show. Then again, I never really missed Michael all that much

Season 3 episode 1 is basically a second pilot. It always stuck out to me how much happened between seasons
@taffytime4898
@taffytime4898 3 жыл бұрын
I feel like the dundies was a second pilot because season 2 and beyond feel so different from the more UK like season 1 that when I watched season 1 it feels like a different show For example in the dundies, the lights are brightened, Michael is completely rewritten, more locations, more character boosting is whatever it is called it does feel totally different.

@@taffytime4898 I guess a more accurate way to say it would have been that it was written like a pilot, with a lot of exposition and character introductions. Season 2 was a big change as well, mainly because season 1 Michael wasn’t working

Great video! It took a few days to get through but the video showed you put time into making it. I agree with your top 3 almost in order or changing #2,3 on the day. The Banker is one of my personal favorites BECAUSE it is a clip show on top of how it ends with Darell playing the Dundee Mifflin song on the piano. Great Video 👍
